Re: Volkswagen Taigun Review

Hi,

I have booked a cherry red Taigun and expecting delivery in the next 2 days. I have opted for the extended warranty for 6 years. The SA has told me that the 7th year extended warranty can be opted only in the 6th year. Wanted to check if this is correct.

I also wanted the feedback of the forum members on option for the service value pack. wanted to check if it is beneficial to opt for the same.

Regards

That’s true. The 7th year warranty can be bought only on the 6th year. Don’t install any electrical accessories outside as this would void your warranty.

Go for it to have a piece of mind. It would protect you from the future inflation also I have observed people are protected from unnecessary works which the SA insists during the service

Re: Volkswagen Taigun Review

Hi All,

Need a suggestion. While I have booked a Taigun, in the midst for deciding whether to go with VIN 24 or VIN 25. Most of the dealerships are giving better discounts for VIN 24 while not much discounts for VIN 25. I would have gone ahead with VIN 24 if the cars were from October 2024 onwards, however all the cars are from March 2024 or older. Quite old but brand new. Dealerships are recommending to go ahead with ,VIN 24 cars confirming that there will be no issues due to long time storage and they will do everything needed during PDI. But I am still not convinced. Please do suggest what is the best to do. The discounts result in a savings of upto 60K or even more.

Regards

I wont go for 8-10 months old car for saving 60k-1L. Irrespective of the season VW/skoda offers up to 1-2L discount given their poor sales record. So an additional 2L which totals to 3.5-4L and then I would consider. Also PDI has to be done by you. Dealers do a poor job with PDI and will cover any damage found by replacing parts

Are you getting 1.0 TC AT or 1.5 DSG or 1.0 MT?
60k discount for 10+ month old car is not at all substantial. VW was giving discounts above ₹2 lakh in December on Taigun 1.5 DSG.

My suggestion to get below details from dealer along with VIN details
1. When did the dealer get the car from factory?
2. Is the car sitting in dealer stockyard for 10+ months?
3. If the car is with dealer ask them to share pictures
4. Be firm to tell the dealer and SA that you will decide on VIN24 model only after doing PDI and if any issue is found then switch to VIN25 model

I am going for 1.5 DSG Chrome. I don't like the all black interiors of Sports Variant, they look little degraded material. If I opt for Sports variant, I will get the latest cars because it was launched in Sep/Oct '24. SAs did tell me that they have received cars recently and they can share the bills and evidences for the same. Apparently they even told me that as VW and Skoda share the Chassis, usually the VIN numbers are bit older though they get the cars later. Nevertheless, whether the cars are in factory or at the dealership, my thoughts were that the cars have been almost stationary for 10+ months and it will have its toll wear and tear.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun Review

A weird rattling issue started in my car after crossing 1000 kms. Even on 100% smooth roads on the highway I was hearing some glass vibrations from the rear. I thought it was the door windows or something on the boot or the spare wheel or the woofer or the baby seat. After a lot of efforts and testing removing everything it seems like the sound originates from the bottom internal part of the boot and also causes the rear windshield to cause a squeaky noise. If I just normally close the door also I can hear the rattling noise clearly. So in highways when I had my brother ride the car and sat in the rear seat it was horrible. Continuous vibrations and noise even on smooth roads on highways. It’s clearly audible when I am driving as well. Took it to ASC they said sorry can’t do anything as they dont find anything unusual on the boot and it must be the quality of the car which I have to live with. As any one noticed it and fixed it?

Do you think all these rattles are results of PPF installation process? I see that you got PPF installed and went through some issues, may be I am wrong.

I installed PPF as soon as the car was delivered. This issue started after 1000kms exactly after sunfilm installation. Since the noise is coming from the highlighted part in the images I don’t think it’s because of any external factors such as ppf or sunfilm installation.

Did you check after removing the spare wheel and the jack/accessories? They could be one of the reasons.

Yes I did. For now I have filled up the boot and applied some tapes on the number plate and boot lid. This is damping the sound and now audible only from the rear passenger seats.

Do you have a frame installed for your number plate? If not, the number plate may have come slightly loose and could be causing the rattle. I had the same issue some time back, and the thing kept ringing like a bell until i got it refixed with a frame and some foam tape.

No frame and its the standard one which show room provides during delivery. For now I have filled the boot with things and put some tapes. This is damping the sound but still audible from rear seat. Now my biggest struggle is rattling from both front doors and squeaky noises from front panels and center console. I am not blaming the car for this as it was rattle free before sun film installation. Solar shield offered in home installation and they sent some road side shop cheap installer who damaged my car resulting to these rattles. I have shared it in detail on solar shield thread

Re: Volkswagen Taigun Review

Good Morning BHPians,

Yesterday we took the delivery of our new set of wheels the Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus, 1.5 DSG. Still enjoying the excitement. Thanks to Team BHPians for all the information. Soon I will share a detailed post on the process of car selection, several TDs and dealership visits, etc.
The only thing pending for now is Dashcam, kindly suggest the best fit for Taigun, factoring heating and safety aspects.

Thanks & Regards

Congratulations on the new purchase. 1.5 DSG will excite you everytime you are behind the wheels.
On the dashcam, I am currently using 70mai A500S pro plus dual channel on my Kushaq 1.5DSG, working well since last 11 months. However, this is an old model and would suggest you to look for newer models with the latest Starvis 2 sensor. There are multiple options available from various brands and price ranges. There is a dedicated dashcam thread (The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread) which you can read for reviews and ownership experiences.
Wishing you safe drives and many happy kilometers.
