The missing airbags on the AT variants too! They were quick to realise the mistake and course correct. EPC issues got dragged on for far too long - but thankfully Skoda seems to have addressed that as well now, and these learnings should translate to the Slavia.

Looking forward to the unveil tomorrow. Unlike the highly competitive SUV segment, Skoda actually has some freedom to position their product in the sedan space considering all the old and bland rivals with no new major threats on the horizon.

If the sedan weighs less than the Kushaq - we might be looking at a car that does an early 8.xx seconds to 100 in the 1.5 DSG trims. Should leave everything else in the competition far far behind.

Skoda Slavia revealed











Slavia is 4,541 mm long, 1,752 mm wide, 1,487 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm.

Boot capacity of 521 l.

There is a choice of three trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style.

The new metallic Crystal Blue and the Tornado Red paintwork are both Skoda exclusives for the Indian market.





A free-standing infotainment screen measuring up to 10 inches takes centre stage.

A horizontal, colour-contrasting decorative strip connects the circular side air vents.

From Ambition upwards, touch-control Climatronic with Air Care function comes as standard, while comfort features such as ventilated front seats upholstered in leather are available for the top-end specification Style.



Central colour touchscreen measuring 7 or 10 inches. Navigation function for the top-of-the-range system can be downloaded



ESC and tyre pressure monitor as standard in all variants, Hill-Hold Control optional. Rain and light sensors, and cruise control and tyre pressure monitor system.

All headrests are height-adjustable, and the centre seat in the rear is also equipped with a three-point seat belt. ISOFIX anchors and Top Tether anchor points on the rear seats, which come as standard, allow child seats to be securely fastened.



2 turbocharged petrol engines on offer, a 115hp, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI unit that is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The other, more powerful option, is a 150hp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI motor that gets either the 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.



Skoda India has opened pre-bookings for the Slavia today. Deliveries will start in the first quarter of 2022.

Škoda Slavia is presented primarily as a car for India, but brand representatives admit that the new sedan also has export potential. It is expected to be sold in nearby Nepal or Sri Lanka, where Kushaq is also sold. In the future, the sale of a car in North Africa, for example, is not excluded, it would also have potential in South America.

The car looks absolutely stunning! Will have to for the variant wise price distribution though. No way the ‘style’ trim in 1.5L AT combo is going to be near the Honda City in terms of OTR price. Can’t wait for the TBHP style review which includes the finer details, that will also tell about the overall quality as compared to the Kushaq. Very impressive!

Looks really nice and premium. The raised GC could be a good way to get customers interested in Sedans again - best of both worlds in a way. Ability to drive on crater ridden roads without scraping while getting the benefits of a sedan with better handling, bigger boot etc.

If Škoda prices this well, it could become the go to car for enthusiasts in the ~15 lakh bracket.
