You may get a DEF Dozing error in the morning, ignore it and continue to drive. When the DEF system is cold this warning will come, once the vehicle warms up , it may take a while - this will go away.

Our Oct 23 manufactured 4xplor has the rattle. Going for 1000km next week. Will log the complaint and check if new improved part is available.

I was doing 40-50 kmph, this kind of damage seem colossal.
That's really scary. Glad you guys are safe.

Do you have any more pictures of the underside and which components broke resulting in this? How big was the rock and do you think this collapse is acceptable and not a failure. As much as I want to, I'm unable to ignore the multiple incidents of Scorpio N front wheels giving up.

I am not going to rubbish your claim, but this was quite a big impact as the rim has shattered. how many times you have driven over speeds of 50 on a road with bad patches?

the previous failures were upper ball joint. in your case the upper ball joint is intact.

low tire pressure could have adverse effect on the rims when you hit the pothole at good speeds.

Wow! That is a considerable amount of damage. To be honest, I am unable to digest how such a great deal of damage was inflicted by that piece of stone at your claimed speed. Either the speed was higher or the build quality of the Scorpio N is questionable. Yours is not the first case of such damage.

It wasn't a road with bad patches, it had sharp rocks camouflaged by leaves.

The quote given by the ASC has upper ball joint to be replaced.

The car has TPMS and had them filled 34 psi a day earlier.

It is always heartbreaking to see our stead(s) battered. I also had a somewhat similar incident but at crawling speed. I was making a U-turn after starting. There were lot of rocks jutting out of the ground. I made a mental note of the presence of this particular rock on our path but while turning around forgot about it. We were very hungry - famished. The rock is a big one approx. 30-40cm.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Review-img_8043.jpg

The result was my Scorpio N stopping and the front dangling from that rock. When stopped, the contact point was the lower control arm joint marked in the photo below.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Review-img_6765.jpg

Thankfully, Scorpio N is RWD so I reversed but with full of trepidation. Luckily nothing serious happened. The underbody protection was torn. The aluminum lower control arm and the joint have scratch marks. Thinking they are minor scratches I continued the journey but at lower speed. Only after a good 2-3 hours drive I got the full confidence back. Back at home, I fixed the underbody protection with paper-staples The part immediately above this torn area is aluminum so I don't think the staples would lead to any rust issue.

This was not the last incident that day. While looking for a restaurant I tried to squeeze through a narrow lane which resulted in the front left wheel-arch cladding hitting a parked bike. It was a small dimple in the plastic. I fixed it with m-Seal

The lesson was that hunger, thirst, nature's call, etc. also pose extreme danger while driving, perhaps not to the same extent as exhaustion and sleep deprivation. Unlike falling asleep, what happens with these emergencies is that they lead to faulty judgements and wrong decisions. So these emergencies should be addressed as soon as possible while driving.

Hello @wooka.

As you have experienced the updated steering setup, could you please describe the steering wobbles you had on the Z6?

I have an April-manufactured Z6 DAT and haven’t felt that. I am curious if I have been ignoring the wobbles.

I had a strange feeling (bouncing like short frequency, maybe the whole car was bouncing) only when I tried pushing the car above the legal speed limit and attributed that to road undulation.

I am aware of the Duster’s steering, which is too communicative, and it doesn’t stay quiet (for me, it keeps wobbling).

From the video it appears that the alloy wheel has taken the impact and shattered, all other damage is a result of that. I was of the opinion that some mechanicals might have given up but looks like they are all intact.

TPMS error?

Hello friends. Could someone throw more light on mismatched readings of TPMS? The TPMS shows air pressure in wheels between 35-37 psi, whereas hand held gauge as well as inflator’s gauge shows 32-33 psi. At the most trustworthy filling station too the readings are 33-34 psi. These readings are on cold tyres. Who should I trust? Can erroneous TPMS be recaliberated?
Also when the overnight temperatures were 5-7 deg C, the vehicle info shows tyre temperature to be 25-28 deg C before the vehicle is started. The car is under the open sky all night and this tyre temperature is shown even before the sun had risen. How can this be corrected? Or do the wheels have some heater to warm them ? I had not checked these before the first service. Could someone guide me please. Thanks

Hi
It takes time for the readings to get communicated and updated (reference: owners manual)
Try looking at readings after 5-10 minutes of driving, tyre temperature will match the ambient temperature.
Cheers

Did the rock shatter into smaller pieces after you hit it? That is some horrific damage to the big daddy.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

Hello everyone! Any owner planning/or tuned their Scorpio-N to the Power/Torque figures of XUV 700 which should be simple as engine and gearbox are exactly the same? I am more interested in the higher torque of 450 NM in the XUV 700, is it advisable to retune the vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

High risk of voiding warranty. Wouldn't a FWD with 450Nm and RWD with 400Nm have the same impact - pulling vs. pushing?
