ADAS will also become in the near future what other safety features of yesteryears have become now i.e. a must have standard safety feature.

It's on us how quickly we as a nation progress to improve our driving etiquettes and adjust to cars becoming smarter by the day which is inevitable.
There is no denying that tech is evolving and so is adoption. However, one thing to note that tech like ABS, airbags are internal to a car and it does not need others on the road to adopt to them. Also, it required little to no special education or learning for a driver to get used to them. This is not the case with ADAS. It's a mindset and driving behavior shift, not only for the driver but also for other drivers on the road. One can imagine how much effort and time it is going to take for ADAS to become mainstream. Till that time, it'd still remain a nice to have feature with limited functionalities.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I just crossed the one-year mark with my Seltos Gtx+ (1.5 Petrol Turbo GDI + DCT). Some key observations in owning and driving 13,100km (much higher than I expected to drive):

Pros:
- Extremely comfortable to drive, especially on long distances, thanks to the adjustments and ventilated seats (the latter was a nice surprise and a real blessing)
- Engine + gearbox performance is fabulous; accelerates really quick, especially in sports mode, but more importantly is able to easily coast at high speed on the highways. I felt this significantly reduces tiredness. I also personally love the engine sound especially in these instances. (The GDI clatter may not be for everyone)
- Interior feels plush and I personally prefer and like the all black with white accents design; its super easy to maintain and looks premium
- Very comfortable as a 4-seater, and manageable as a 5-seater, with a really spacious boot and even under floor space (stored all my cleaning stuff here)
- The Pewter Olive shade and I'm guessing the new light design has been attracting quite some attention especially second glances. (I don't know if this is a pro or a con)
- Highway fuel efficiency figures of around 13-14kmpl which I think is excellent given that I'm a fast driver. The coasting at higher speeds definitely helps
- ADAS has been a life saver for me and made me a more sedate driver, especially in traffic. Like many owners on the forum, I too was initially apprehensive of owning a vehicle with it, but I'm glad I did.

Cons:
- The powertrain sometimes has a mind of its own in traffic. It consistently changes from 2nd to 3rd at around 2.1k rpm which is quite audible, while the others are around 1.7 to 1.8k rpm. Under 50 to 75% throttle, 4th to 5th feel like there is really bad clutch ride.
- I expected city fuel efficiency to be low but sometimes its atrocious. One some journeys I've gotten 6kmpl, but my average across the year has been 12kmpl which is acceptable.
- You have to be extremely careful with the 18-inch rims; they're super easy to scratch especially on pavements and also driving at high speed and hitting a pothole may crack the rim.

Upgrades/changes:
- I immediately upgraded to Continental tyres from the ridiculous stock JK tyre. I'm unable to comprehend why KIA did this. In my view, GoodYear or Bridgestone or Apollo should have been installed.
- Added 70mai front and rear facing dashcam. This is no more an accessory but a necessity for our traffic
- Installed a wireless Carplay and Android auto dongle; adds a lot more functionality and convenience to the infotainment system
- Debadged the 'Seltos' and 'GTX+' from the boot lid for a clean look
- Changed all non-led bulbs to LEDs (already posted on Team-Bhp) which I feel has enhanced the premium look, especially the reverse lights

Concerns:
- Been facing inaccurate wheel alignment issues for the last 3 to 4k km. I will most likely have to re-calibrate the steering angle sensor and then re-do the wheel alignment
- KIA uses mineral engine oil ONLY and according to its service technicians this needs to be changed every 10,000km. In our traffic and weather conditions, and with a turbo engine, I think this is concerning. I will ask them to change the oil at 15,000km depending on its condition, in addition to the engine and cabin air filter. I'd rather ensure clean air to the engine and myself for a few rupees more, than "clean" it with compressed air.
- I'm beginning to see a yellow tinge in the LED DRL in the headlight assembly on both sides. Will also raise this at the next service.
- Updating the ECU should hopefully solve the above gear shift issues I have.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Nice little feature added to the Kia connect app. Now you can remotely open or close windows.

This could only be applicable for variants with one touch up down for all windows.

I just received an email about Seltos Gravity Variant. Couldn't find anything about feature addition or deletion. Could someone please confirm?

Kia has launched the Gravity variant on Sonet, Seltos and Carens. You will find the details here:

Very well summarised. I too drive an Xline turbo dct and immediately changed my tyres to Yokos 225. Also added 70mai front dashcam from my previous car. Have installed Carlink for wireless AA/CP. Have replaced reverse lights, rear number plate lights and boot light to leds. Any other light did you change to led??

I also feel wheel alignment issues so can you shed more light on procedure for re calibration of steering angle sensor?
Recently I too observe that drls at bottom of headlamp units have started looking yellowish??
Anyone else observing this in their car?

Thanks

Hi 07CR
I believe you must have been using these projector setup for almost 6 months now. How has your experience been till now with them? Would you recommend the same or any alternative solution for improving headlights?

Yesterday, while coming back to Mumbai from Goa via NH66, I found my Seltos GTX+ headlights to be sorely lacking. I had to slow down multiple times and no streetlights along with glaring headlights of trucks/buses made the situation even worse. So, I am now looking for a way to improve the lighting setup.

Also, can you share listing details for Xenon Planet's lamp since I was not able to find them on their website.

Regards

Response is fantastic. Be it any roads, the lights do a wonderful job. Helps even in rains, because the intensity is good.

I suggest you do install such projector fog lamps (better if you get with laser, lasers help in high beam). I have shared link of Xenon BI LED, but you could check some other lamps which could offer similar output, Genome being one of them. Please pm me if you are interested, I could share the Genome person's contact number.

PS- not associated in any way with Genome. It's just the installation guy took great care and did a fantastic job.

Hi
Thank you for responding. The link you have shared for Xenon Planet is for bulbs costing 33k. I believe in your post you had shared total cost including lamps, brackets and relay as 14.5k. Are the products different or these guys have more than doubled the cost in 6 months? Also, are you aware whether Genome has a distributor in Mumbai?

Thanks & Regards

Not really sure if this price increase is current one. I had procured these from a dealer who procures such electrical lamps in bulk.

No idea about the genome distributor. But they should have it in Mumbai.

In terms of lights, I've changed only those as well, everything else is LED.

From my knowledge so far, the recalibration of the SAS will have to be done at the dealer. I'll also check online if there is a self recalibration procedure available. Once this is done, we will most likely have to do the wheel alignment again, considering the SAS back to neutral.

W.r.t. the yellowing, I'm waiting for another 1500km until I complete 15,000km, by which time it would be even more visible. By that time, we might hear of more issues on team-bhp as well. I'll anyway post a picture when its very noticeable.

Neat update.

Just wanted to know - how did you route the cable for the rear dashcam? Is it through the roof liner? If yes, than how will it take care of the curtain airbag deployment in an accident? Pardon my speculative question, but I’ve have a dual channel dashcam (70mai A200) and have connected only the front channel so far. I’m a little unsure about routing it through the roof liner for the rear cam.

This steering misalignment is a widespread issue and is a given in all the facelifted Seltos and Sonet’s from the factory! As a matter of fact, check the YouTube media reviews of Seltos or Sonets, especially those long drive review videos and you will easily notice their steering alignment offset.

My FL Sonet GTX too had the same issue from factory and had to visit the SC twice and after nearly 3 hours of alignment / calibrations and back and forth test drives with their folks, finally it is relatively better. Not perfect though.

Their technician himself told me that this issue is very common in both these models, from the factory itself! But they only fix if some customer really presses them for a fix. They however try their hard to shrug it off in the 1st instance.

Same goes for that yellow tinge of the DRLs. I know people who have replaced 2-3 units for the same issue.

It’s pretty widespread in the FL Sonet. Not so much in the Seltos. Get is replaced under warranty.
