Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Another convert - the ECU update is sweet on the 1.5 turbo petrol. The engine feels 'unshackled'/ 'freed up' across modes, across the rev range - almost like a remap!

[quote=smoes;5823466]I got the ECM update done a couple of weeks ago and completed 1000kms. time.

One question for folks with petrol turbo dct. I am struggling to get even 13kmpl on the highways.]

Post the ECM update the average mileage on my GTX+ DCT has dropped by 1-2kmpl. It is very evident during bumper to bumper traffic and drops to almost 6 kmpl (was between 8-9kmpl).

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

After the ECM update, I initially noticed a significant improvement in the performance of my Seltos GTX+ 1.5T petrol. However, after about a month, the performance enhancement seems to have diminished, and the vehicle's performance has returned to its original state. Additionally, there's a noticeable drop in fuel economy. Previously, my vehicle would show over 19 km/l on the MID and 18 km/l using the tank-to-tank method on the highway. Now, the MID shows a maximum of around 16 km/l. I still need to verify the current fuel economy using the tank-to-tank method. Similarly, in city driving, the mileage has decreased from 8 km/l to 4-5 km/l in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and now 8 km/l in normal traffic from 13 km/l.

Has anyone faced similar problem on GTX+?
Stock wire would be type C to lightning which wouldn’t work in this case as Type C is for charging only. I use this cable in my HTX for CarPlay.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hi Guys. I'm looking to add in the following upgrades

1. Puddle Lamps :Asking to see if anyone tried fitting in the Creta SxO FL's mirrors to Seltos GT/X Line. Creta has puddle lamps built in and that could be a great addition to Seltos.
2. Glovebox light: There are retrofits in Polo being done with TAMO parts.
3. Vanity Mirror light: Something akin to Tuscon. Comes with a bulb and switch.

My guess is these are OEM+ upgrades. However I'm concerned about the warranty and any coding that may be required.

Engine Malfunction Warning came thrice in my New Kia Seltos Diesel

Engine Malfunction Warning came thrice in my New Kia Seltos Diesel

Prelude
I am writing this post as a follow up to my update to my new 2023 Kia Seltos Diesel GTX. As many of you know, I detailed my experiences in few of the posts before. I am writing this post to detail about an issue that has happened thrice now and want to know if other owners face the same.
For a quick upto speed- the car is a 2023 Seltos GTX Plus Diesel Automatic, purchased in end February 2024. It does an equal split of highway and city driving with fuel being filled from Shell or Indian Oil in Bengaluru. Car has now almost 7,500 KM on the odo.
Make no mistake, I have only positive things to say about this car apart from this one annoyance. The car has been a superb addition and has surpassed my expectations.

The issue
Around 5,000 KM on the ODO, the engine management warning had popped up on the dashboard. Immediately we took it to the dealership where they said it was due to carbon build up and after 30 or so minutes of ‘cleaning’ the carbon, the car was good to go.
It was all smooth sailing for another month or so, when this warning popped up again. We were a little perplexed at first because this is a car that does substantial amount of highway driving and fuel is filled from only reputable gas stations. The driver took the car to the service centre where they took almost two hours to clean the carbon and do a software update.
It seemed like everything was fine but this time, within two weeks of the visit, the warning popped up again. I had written an email to Kia India and Advaith Kia about this issue that is now a cause for worry. I took the car in on a Saturday where they took some time to diagnose this but basically performed the same ‘carbon clean up’ as well as software update. The service manager (who was very helpful, in fact all the Kia team were quite polite and helpful) told me that this issue is due to carbon build up. But to me, this warning is not the DPF warning but the engine warning light. From what I understood he has told me that if this issue persists, they will have to replace the catalytic converter. He also says the car is fine even with this warning on or the warning will disappear if you drive it for a long time.
There is also a tiny issue that has happened twice now where the one touch sunroof stops working and I have to reset the sunroof after watching online tutorials. Not sure if these are connected but its definitely another software bug.

My worries-
See as mentioned here and in my review, the car is absolutely superb, I really have no compplaints apart from this. Because the car is still new, and the team is supportive. But what happens when the warranty runs out? My other Diesel cars which are all 5 plus years old now still work rock solid. I am not sure if this is a Kia issue or a Diesel DPF issue that plagues all new cars. This is issue is something that doesn’t give me full peace of mind. It’s the one tiny obstacle prevcenting me from loving this car fully.
If anyone else has faced this issue or is facing this issue, please do let me know how you proceeded with this and how it was solved for you. So far I have full faith Kia will solve this issue (or maybe it has) and this issue won’t recur again but let’s see. Will update on the thread.

Are you using Ottocast or native wired connectivity? I am using iPhone 14 Pro Max with Ottocast , No such issue.

Also - delete native bluetooth pairing if you are using Ottocast or similar device. I forgot to delete it and music used to stop at random time due to multiple BT connection to the same device.

Sorry, but I don’t know what is Ottocast. I connect via the regular BT. Haven’t tried it over Car Play though. But I think BT is the most simplest and should work like one.

Hello Bhpians,

Although a bit delayed report but better late than never.

So in April 2024 we decided to part ways with our 3rd Gen City in Kolkata for my parents as there were some hiccups in extension beyond 15 Years.

Hence had to park my 5th Gen City in Kolkata and wanted a replacement in Bangalore.

Although I wanted a Sedan but the next option of upgrade was Camry at 50 Lakhs.
That reignited the plan of these potent SUV segments.

Kushaq vs Taigun vs Hyryder vs Grand Vitara vs Creta vs Seltos

Wanted a Petrol Automatic and at par interiors of 5th Gen City and this was non negotiable.
This is where I realized replacing a 5th Gen City was indeed a challenge.

Eventually it narrowed down to Seltos & Creta but the interior of Seltos felt more mature.
Also few features which I used in City only had it in Seltos.

So after completing 6000 Kms in less than 3 months am getting attached to this car and have accepted the fuel efficiency numbers too

I had the same issue twice. Turned out to be low battery. Turn off Auto Start Stop And go for a long drive and see if it sorts itself out.

I too have a 2023 GTX 1.5D which is a brilliant car, Solid and smooth on the highways but the diesel DPF issue worries me as well .I don't see a bright future for diesels especially when Kia launches Petrol Hybrid version next year.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hi All, This is my first post in the forum. I went to showroom to check for the new seltos GTX+ petrol, and the showroom is offering free extended warranty and SA advised that my convenience plus is not necessary. Can the forum members enlighten if my convenience plus which costs 47K is worth the amount?

I own a Xiaomi 13 pro phone and the music is not killed. It resumes automatically after I end the call. And I never lock any apps either. So definitely there is some setting that needs to be enabled/disabled.

Just curious, what is the mileage you get in bumper to bumper and on the highways?
