Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Perfect.
Salbin Sir, I'd be grateful if you would be able to courier this across. Also, abhishek will need one too in Delhi.
We'll pay for the courier cost of course.
Thanks.

IIRC, LT and LS would require only 1 switch since Clock switch is pre-installed.
PS would require 2 switches. One extra switch for the clock.

superutp - 1 switch (Beat LT)
adg_andy - 1 switch (Beat LS)
salbin - 1 switch (Beat LT)
soumyajit9 - 1 switch (Beat LT)
samarth.bhatia - 1 switch (Beat LS)
Mr.Beat - 1 switch (Beat LT)
myavu - 1 switch (Beat LT)
chevybeat - 1 switch (Beat LT)
kphilip - Beat model unknown

Definitely, we would shoot videos and pictures for a nice DIY guide.
Fantastic!

@salbin: Thank you! How do we go about couriering the switches also what about the cost involved? We can do bank transfers.

Also how do guys plan to do the soldering? Will have to take the board off and then do it, is it?

I'll need to get a better soldering iron to be able to set the SMD switches into place. Reccomemdations?

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Salbin, if you still have any leftover switches, one for me please. I've a diesel LT model. Also if you can PM your no and address and the time you plan to do the mod, will try to be there.

I have considered 1 for you.
But I am sorry.. your friend isn't lucky to get one - all the 10 are over. (I had already committed to give 1 no to our T-BHPian White Rabbit over phone).
Just to make it clear, here is the list of first 10 people who informed me:
1. Myself!
2. superutp
3. adg_andy
4. soumyajit9
5. white rabbit
6. samarth.bhatia
7. Mr.Beat
8. myavu
9. chevybeat
10. kphilip

I will courier it sometime next week depending on availability of time.
Regarding soldering, once the plastic cover is removed, the PCB is exposed for soldering. It will not be possible to remove the plastic cover without removing the cluster - hence cannot be done on the vehicle itself.

A small tipped soldering iron is preferred (usually mobile servicing guys will be having it).
Even I have to get one or try my luck with the normal one itself.
Otherwise I will grind the standard tip and make it pointed tip.
I am also a newbie in SMD soldering.

One of you from those who still need it can take a lead and order it from in.rsdelivers.com and share with others.
It takes only 10~12 days to get the item.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Great work guys, a DIY video with step by step procedure will be really helpfull.

A bit off topic here:
I have noticed that while going over even slightly uneven roads there is a very noticeable drumming noise.
A primary reason could be, suspension bushing worn out or steering rack problem.

Any suggestions?

Okay guys even I have order 10 pcs from Ebay.com, I am a regular ebayer and i trust the sellers there.
Mine is a 2011 LT model and out of the 10 I would keep 2 for me and the rest 8 will be shared with Mumbai Beat guys.
Total cost was 195 only for 10pcs. Hope fully the shipping time would not be more than 30 Days, usually such items reach within 4 weeks, if not delivered within 45 days you are eligible for a full refund.

Can you share the Ebay link for the product too? In that case, others can buy directly from there.

I notice that too. I believe somewhere on this forum it was mentioned that you could get a additional collar added to reduce this noise. I could be mistaken though. I asked about it at Metro Chevrolet in Delhi, but they had no idea.

Any one with a new Beat, can you confirm if this noise is still there in the newer models? Its quite annoying to be honest. Especially on those slightly uneven surfaces like the ones we have now with this new carpeting that they are doing on the flyovers in South Delhi.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

There is a sloght whistling sound comng from within the car (at idle as well as while driving ) after driving for about 10 kms. The sound also comes when I switch on teh car(not ignition) for a brief time- sometimes. Somebody please tell me that this is not the dreaded fuel pump sound

If I am lucky, I will make you guys hear the sound tomorrow.

BTW, we are meeting in front of Kropex at 2:15 right?

You need to sharpen your ears and listen

If the sound is from rear - it's fuel pump

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post3137573

If the sound is from engine bay (somewhat behind steering) - it's water pump

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post3244336

Dust your extended warranty booklet (lucky if you are in your 3 year warranty) and replace the culprit asap.

Cheers!

Vinu

Congrats, your fear can just turn true :-(
Like Vinu says, it could be either.

I will be waiting infront of Kropex at 2:00PM.
I will be coming from SilkBoard side, so do I make a U-Turn at Singsandra and wait infront of Kropex, or shall I wait on the opposite side service lane of Kropex ? Any idea, which side is salbin's house ?

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

The latest update is that all 4 of us ( Salbin, Soumyajit9,Superutp and me) have successfully managed to install the MAGIC switch. Further updates from Soumya- I see he is online and I am sure he is uploading the pics

Thanks a lot Salbin for the help. It was a pleasure meeting you all.

In other news- the fuel/water pump sound has resurfaced. I am visiting Kropex this week. Hopefully the problem will be rectified
