Very intersting account and loved the pictures accompanying the story. Took me a couple of days to go through the thread end to end. Nice to see the final result. I was myself involved in the restoration of a Standard Herald (2 door). But it was nothing compared to your experience.

Its been close to 6 years since the Bus has been with me. More than being a Classic Icon, this bus has been 100% in terms of Reliability

Had parked the bus at my friends Farm house recently and sadly the rats chewed up my roof-lining Got the upholsterers to come over and take measurements for a new one.

Will be getting it home in a couple of days time for some refreshing updates to be added.

Finally the Bus is almost complete in terms of everything that needs attention.

1) New Slider for the sliding door fixed
2) New roof lining done
3) Tiny rust spots checked and Re-painted a few panels
4) New door hinge pins
5) Complete rub-down and polishing

Things to Do :

1) Install a Music system
2) New tires
3) General service and electrical check-up
4) Fuel guage indicator giving headaches.

Most of the work done, still the Fuel guage giving me sleepless nights, attending to it right now. Another new issue cropped up on my recent drive, the brake booster seems to have developed a leak somewhere, resulting in HIGH Idling. :(

Will be attending to the above issues in the coming days.

Yahooo.... 5 yrs and 4 months of trouble free ownership. Just amazing how time flies.

Amongst all my other VW's. This fellow has been the Most Well behaved one. 22,000 odd kms since i've owned, that includes 2 Chennai Trips ( Another one in less than 24 hours ZERO Breakdowns, ZERO Niggles , ZERO maintenance. Just makes you want for more everytime you drive. Too much of harping eh..!
