Hi Ajay,

I personally went and have seen the Bus, more so, the moment i went there Convinced EartheD, got the Bus started and moved it out of the workshop.

There is very little or almost no rusts on the Bus ,The tiny rust spots were treated yesterday. A good rubbing and polishing is done on the factory paint, Tuning was done and the Bus is now good to Go

And i certify that this Bus does not need a restoration.

Although i am trying to take out time from office to do a nice photoshoot with my Bus along, But since the Bus is leaving to Belgaum tomorrow, i doubt if i shall be able to do it.

But nice to see a good Bus go into nice hands.

Day to drive yet another VW

Drove an unusual route to office, the longest, it took me nearly 35 kms wherein its usually 19 kms

Lot of road widening and Metro rail work happening all around the City, and there is literally no roads to drive the Bus to my office or my clients.

Stopped in between and took some snaps.

Your bus looks super cute pavan saab. I bet you get many stares when you drive this on the road! many must be thinking that this is a school bus & how well you have maintained it!

btw, this requires a heavy vehicle driving license right?

Thank you raj.

Heavy vehicle driving license Why sir, you made me a school bus driver (lol). Actually this is not considered as a commercial vehicle since its a WHITE BOARD, was given a RTO passing as a normal Minivan.

I do get lots of stares driving the Bus on road, and more so a SHOCKED faces when they dont see anyone on the drivers seat.

A Bright Saturday morning.

No thoughts about running the Bus.

A little past afternoon, my brother pulls out the covers off the Bus and runs it for some distance and parks it before i get back home.

Been feeling a bit lazy today.

My kid starts jumping around. " ride the Microbus, ride the Microbus........"

Take the keys and off we both go, find a desolete stretch and start driving.

2 hours and 2 crazy nuts on a 2 lane road. What Fun.

The accelerator cable snapped 4 kms away from home

Cool daddy, i will fix it, says my kid... No beta you sit here.

Get down, Increase the idle so much that the Bus can cruise home at 15 kmph

Reached home, sat on the WWW. and ordered for the accelerator cable.

he he he... Sorry for this kind of narration.

I need a 14 feet long accelerator cable.

None of Indian cars or vans or mini trucks have that long a cable

So invariably need to order from US.

But till it comes, i am going to fix it with a locally available metal string.

Thank you very much.

We Bangaloreans are blessed with lots and lots of such empty stretches to drive.

And i especially try and take the longest roads with nothing or low traffic whenever i am riding the BUS.

I guess parts are not easily available & they must be expensive too, sometimes even a pain. But the joy while driving this bus must be priceless!

Compared to other spares of European cars like Vauxhall,Opel,Truimph,
Vanguards,Riley, etc the spares of aircooled VW's are very easily available( of course not in INDIA since, they were sold only in portugese GOA) and with the exception of NOS German spares they are not EXPENSIVE
