UPDATE: The car is still in the garage, but the work is progressing well. The lopsidedness of the car has more or less been sorted out. Some work with the car left. The steering/pedals/seat combo still needs to be perfected too.

Still Looking for creative ideas for the AC though.

Since you guys are visiting workshop regularly, photos on progress would be right thing to do. You'll have visual record and it's important. Especially for a car which has gone through so much.

Since last two days I too was thinking bout the same as that is one of the best tool to get the owner a better idea bout the developments!
Will take some snaps and post it tomorrow. Was too busy with family for the past couple of days.
At present Steering/Seat/Pedal positioning is confusing us, as all these stuffs are in totally uncomfortable locations.
Steering centreline is around 70mm offset to left of the driver seat.
Present positioning(post correction) of steering is more handy and comfortable. Feels perfect. But steering is touching drivers leg/thigh!
(Driver seat is in extreme rear end position)
Need to sit more time on this issue to find best solution.

As JayD mentioned, front left stance is corrected now. But then the next morning we saw the rear right side down to almost 2 inches. Will check that thing thorougly before working on it. I think the stress level formed due to the correction of front left resulted in putting whole load on the rear right springleaf to yeild so much!.

Carburator/Timing is all a mess! Secondary venturi was loose in its place causing excessive flooding! Timing advancing system in distributor had to be corrected. The idling is yet to come clear and steady! Checking all the possibilities one by one.

Anyways... none of the issues seems trouble some. Hope we can sort out everything by this weekend.

This is because the original landy steering is much bigger in diameter than regular steering wheels. This is probably why the Shornur ashaan raised it to the extent he did.

Add one more to the list of things to be changed/modified from the vehicle that was delivered by those jerks in Bangalore.

I really want to get that paintjob done and wipe off all traces of any work done by MotorSmuts - the new paint will be like a 'shuddhi kalasham' to wash away all the sin.

How about a small Momo steering instead steer??

All correct steer. But still we are trying to find a more comfortable positioning of steering/seat and pedals. Because, all I have in mind is the practicality aspect of an old man driving this car. In that sense, the mech suggests a bit of work on gear lever too; to make it more handy and easy to use!

An old man wont be driving this car around - he will be driven around.

He had harboured some hopes of driving it around, and if the vehicle had been delivered as per the original schedule committed by the jerks who took up the job he may indeed have driven it around for a while.

1 year is a very long period in the life of a 72-year-old, things are not static over such a long period.

Steering issue is manageable and will be done to most comfortable position.

Engine idling is steady now and we are trying to set it @ 900 rpm for without a/c and 1000 rpm for with a/c. (Correct me if am wrong)

Few other issues like repositioning and connection of hand brake, window/windscreen beadings etc are yet to be looked and worked upon.

Hope we can complete everything by this weekend!

Now see picture no.1
You can see the steering offset from the centre line of driver seat. From the same picture, guess you can see the driver seat looking to front-right!!!!

Picture no.3 shows Mr.Chellappan (the mech) demonstating the offset

Picture No.4
Look at this picture closely! You can see the differance in gap between seats and 'B' pillars(both side)!!!!!

Picture no.7 show me sitting in driver seat and steering is touching my leg!

T O T A L L Y Confused eh??! hmm... we are yet to learn and study the entire abnormalities!!! Very interesting now! Will findout THE best solution somehow!

You're taking lots of effort to get this car back in a good shape.
The pictures and your words explain very much in detail of all abnormalities in the car. Good that our Mr. Chellappan chettan is doing his best to sort everything out.
