Regular updates.

Work on the panels all round the car has started. Such a wonderful design this car is.

Each and every panel comes out, a Tinker's delight

After the tapping is done, we do the regular zinc oxide coat and enamel paint on the inside and re-fit them back. This ensures rust free finish inside out.

I am enjoying this restoration, and each and every bit of it.

Some pics.

Alrighty, that (body/chassis) joint seems to be a problem area from a rusting perspective, hence asked.

No Buddy,

Many VW's are treated with antirust coating with the DIP method. There are hardly any chance of rust.

Ageing and climate conditions are the only issue.

Engine assembled, and ready to be mounted

Pending Work:

Missing Carb
Missing Dynamo
Missing Distributor.
All Brake parts yet to arrive.

Pics of engine mounted

While few spares required to start the engine is awaited, we are now concentrating on the brakes and paint process.

Probably in the next 10 days time we will see the brakes done and the car in its colors.

Some regular updates.

After the tinkering is complete, we now start the body filler application job, since the tinkering and tapping came out well, we used very little bodyfiller all over the car

Once the body filler was sanded down to the last microns, we spray the surfacer with the Blue color mixed ( will explain the reason later)

Now the polyster patti work has started and after that, 1 week the car will be left without any work ( Just to make sure the surfacer grips the body well.)

The car suddenly seems to have suddenly come alive at this stage

Hi Pavan,

While you are at it, I would suggest getting the car painted at a paint booth. The paint finish would be perfect so will it last longer.

Regards,

Yes buddy, i too feel the need, but its almost impossible to rent out paint booths for 4-5 days at a stretch., the place where i restore cars are street smart guys who still do a good paint finish.

All my cars are painted outside , but with all 4 sides closed and with a good hot sun scorching outside.
