Thank you for the help. I had tried LABS for the Klim gear and got a fair size but was adviced that mesh and textile sizing differs. Will check out Speed Merchant.

If nothing works out will plan a trip to Delhi and check out the gear. If it fits well and good. If it doesn't I'll get an idea about sizing and will then order from FCMoto or similar sites.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Both sets of gear, mesh (DSG/Dri Rider) and touring (full RST), finally ready, and armour replaced (thank you @sukiwa). Some DIY perforated/vented foam bracing glued on to keep the smaller elbow and forearm Level 1 armour fixed and in place higher up in the larger liner pockets of the mesh jacket (the other option I explored initially at DSG was to shorten the pockets by stitching on new velcro strips higher up ... but all tailors said they would have to open the inner lining of the jacket for that, and I was not too excited about the idea, so ...).

Ditto base layers (2 long sleeved cycling lycra and football mesh, 2 short sleeved compression Under Armours, and 3 full length cotton ... Sikkim pair, elastic-ated afresh, gym and lycra tights ... both new, unused, all Decathlon).

Ditto full length SmartWool and Army woolen socks, and a new pair of long skiing Weidze, still unused.

Now some repairs pending to my touring RSTs and the racing Alpinestars whose plastic heelcups have disintegrated, and the sole glue at the heel on one boot haa started letting go. Next.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Riding Gear Update 2023

I was on a plan to upgrade my gears for sometime now from this (The Riding Gear thread).

This time I started with the extremities, boots (The Riding Gear thread), helmet (Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet) & gloves (The Riding Gear thread).

The Riding Gear thread-surja1.jpg
Jacket took the longest time as the affordable (<10k) improved a lot but this time I was ready to spend more. Wanted to upgrade to a CE Level garment and settled for CE - Class A rated jacket in the Shima Jet mesh riding jacket. The fit and comfort of this jacket was perfect for me. I bought it before the price increase. It has proprietory armours, no fancy names here!
@neil.jericho kept pushing me for one more trial and not to buy, Rynox/Viaterra!

The Riding Gear thread-surja2.jpg
Riding pants were an impulsive buy at a RE showroom, RE Kelshi textile pants (discontinued). They're very light weight with Knox knee armours and foam hip inserts. I've D3O armours set which I use in my RE x Levi's riding jeans (discontinued)

This is more like Dino bhai (Dino's Vault)

Photo credits: sukiwa, he renamed me Mr. Stig!

Note: On this hot and sunny day I'm wearing my perforated leather gloves, Bikeratti Equator

Ride safe,

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Hello everyone!
I needed some advise; Is FC Moto a reliable online retailer? I am searching for a reliable online retailer for the best riding gear brands at competitive prices. Do let me know if there are better retailers online that I can look at. Thank you so much in advance.

Have ordered from FC Moto 4 times since 2020. A back protector, Boots, Gloves and a Helmet. Delivery took anywhere between 3 weeks and 35 days.
All the products were received without any damages. Be prepared to pay approx 37-40% over and above the listed price in FC Moto as Customs duty.

And always consider a chance of damage in transit, which won't be an issue for almost all gears except when ordering a helmet.

There are posts of members who have ordered from sites like Motostorm.it, motardinn.com etc.Have not seen anyone complaining about not receiving a product or seller deliberately sending a damaged one. Still, I would suggest to do your due diligence before ordering from international sites.

Went for my first short spin in these boots today, was a very different experience as compared to regular shoes

I have been using this technique for a few days to break them in:

It still is fairly difficult to feel the gear lever. Sometimes, I accidentally put too much pressure on the rear brake lever too. To everyone here, please do suggest some tips and tricks to get more comfortable in the boot and break them in faster. Aarka and/or anyone else with these boots, if you could update us with your long term review, that would also be great

Cross posting from the RE 452 thread. Saw some snaps of Revit jackets.
Esteemed members with a keen eye should be able to tell if these are existing versions or new models for 2024? Curious as i am in the market to purchase jackets and would like to wait if these are new ones.

Just ride, you will get used to them with time. I wouldn’t bother with shortcuts. It will take time but at the end of it you will feel absolutely comfortable in them and won’t want to ride without them. I feel one of my best decisions in gear was to buy the Alpinestars SMX 6 V2 boots.

Agree 500%. Not happy mauling new leather and soles like in the video. That sort of bending is too sudden and not natural. Many old school racers use a lot of wax an oil. Some wear the boots all day around the house too! An old army trick for DMS's was to apply a thick cake of wax polish amd hold an rotate the boot suitably far over a candle flame. Helps the waxes melt and seep deep into the still virgin hide. Never ever let leather go dry. It will crack and loose integrity.

Cheers, Doc

I do that style of breaking in all the time, especially if the boots are very stiff dirt boots. There is nothing artificial or abnormal about it. It is practical as explained by a very experienced professional motorcyclist on that very video.

Motorcycle boots today are very different from the motorcycle boots you and I used to wear 25 years ago.

Good find. Those look like a new launch in collab with revit. They did one collab with them in 2016. The poster in the background with the new gear being modelled on the H450 is a dead giveaway.

You might be doing it. He might be doing it. But its totally counter-intuitive and artificial and in no way mimics the natural unique movement and flex of each foot. Each foot of a single human is unique. And this is at best a lazy go-fast move to the traditional way of breaking boots in that has been followed by motocross racers for generations. After all, if breaking in boots meant twisting them into dorsal and plantar flexion at the ankles in 2 planes alone, and then toe and forefoot flexion at the soles, I'm sure top manufacturers could have saved their customers the trouble in the first place and simply made the boots more flexible and supple in those areas first off itself right?

If it works and has been working for you I have no complaints. Your feet. Your money. Your boots. I'm giving my point of view based on my experience. And that of a whole lot of very experienced riders and racers around me in the real world. Not on You Tube.

In the real world, sorry to say, they would cringe at such internet gems. And they are still riding. Racing. Rallying. In modern boots. Not 25 years old tech. Though leather is leather. Has been for thousands of years, since man skinned animals. And one of the counter Intuitive though tried and tested tricks used by generations of racers is to dip the boots and soak them in a bucket of water, and then wear and walk in them for a bit, letting the leather mould naturally to EACH foot. And then taking them off. Lathering them in wax, and letting them dry out naturally indoors.

Cheers, Doc

All of what you're seeing is RE collaborating with REV'IT. All NEW! They will also be made available in showrooms soon.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Hello fellow riders,

I've been facing issues with top rack mounts for my Meteor 350. I've got a Moto Vanguard Top Box https://motocentral.in/products/moto-vanguard-aluminum-top-box-55l-black"]- https://motocentral.in/products/moto...-box-55l-black[/url]as that was the only box that could fit my LS2 helmet. The box is well-built and sturdy. But the issue is with the top rack. I've installed 2 of those in 6 months and both of them have been damaged from the left-hand side at the seams.
1st - Atlas Top Rack
2nd - HyperRider
As they are part of my daily travel, I'm aware of the love for Rumblers that PMC and PCMC have, and that might be a contributing factor here but just a life of 2-3 months is beyond belief.
So, if someone has information about good quality and well-made top rack please do tell.
The only solution viable solution I've right now is to design and fabricate a piece on my own.
P.S. - On daily rides, there is nothing in the box, only when parked, it has my helmet and riding gloves. During trips, it has a change of clothing for 2 people and a 2-litre Milton bottle.
