This one is even more interesting where a family decides to park their car right next to the median to pluck flowers from the median on the same highway (and perhaps around the same section).

My usual practice of driving on the left lane as much as possible ensured that I didn't have to swerve spotting this vehicle at the last minute.

And no, there wasn't any breakdown as I could notice the occupants holding flowers and getting into their car

Posted on X and the video was shot at Andheri (East), Mumbai. The pillion rider on this bike dangerously holds a large screen TV on his lap. Any miscalculation could have been life threatening.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

1. WagonR should have either crossed or stayed there. I knew she was doubtful so decided to wait and let the Baleno cross which made the people behind me mad.
2. A scooter decides to merge/cross from God knows where. He helps to worsen the chaos further.
3. Kwid and Sunny decides that they have had enough and tries their way somehow (the road isn't that wide).
4. Finally, hero steps in. I block him leaving little gap for him to merge. He shows his watch explaining that he's in a hurry. I do the same. Have reported this dude to the "Traffic Eye" (LED lights, stickers etc).

He expected you to give way as he is entitled to it because of the Kerala Gang sticker.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

This is a daily affair and happens right in front of a cop manning this junction on need basis. Motorists from an apartment here wanting to go towards Yelahanka New Town, drive the wrong way and merge with the Bangalore bound carriageway. While doing so, they also immensely slow down progress of traffic towards Doddaballapura side by blocking one, sometimes 2 lanes.

The U turn is mere 300 meters away.

It's a TV, atleast he has something to lose if it's dropped ! . I've seen far more dangerous stuff like Glass panes being carried in namma Bengaluru. Chairs, painter ladders, pvs pipes, rock drill bits, even cycles . All I could do is stay clear of these reverse intelligent fellow citizen.

I'm always horrified to see stuff like sheets of plywood, plastic, etc, being carried on bikes. One puff of wind would be disastrous. And glass?

Not only is this behavior highly unsafe, it is also thievery. These flowers are a public asset for beautifying the highway, not freebies to be looted.
While growing up I remember people leaning across the fence into our garden to pluck flowers. When confronted they would say that they were just taking a few for puja at home.

Yet again, the bus decides to worsen the traffic.

As always numerous buses on the wrong side but the highlight is the XUV. He is completely on the wrong side and moreover with the high beams on. KA03 registered vehicle.

The bus clearly has stopped to pick up passengers. Honda City driver is merging into the highway from the opposite lane and totally ignores that the Vento (car before mine) is oncoming at good speeds. Vento now has no way to divert and had to brake hard.

That looks like a scary junction. And those barricades! The bane on TN highways.

We slow down at intersections, we wait for cars to pass us by before merging...Do we? Just a rhetorical question

All the cars going straight including yours, are wrong here.
It is an intersection, with proper barricading and signal and rumble strips. I am just missing a speed breaker here to force people to slow down, as they won't otherwise.
You were trying to overtake this car from the left rather than slowing down, it was the barricade that stopped you from doing it. This would have been catastrophic in my opinion.

Expect vehicles, people, cattle to cross, take U Turns and whatever things possible. I uploaded a video sometime back, which shows the importance of slowing down at intersection. See how the cars are slowing down near the intersection, even though the road ahead is visibally clear.

You will see a runner freezing in his act here.

There is something called a right of way. Just because there is an intersection with barricades and rumble strips, you can't just merge like an idiot into the highway when there are oncoming vehicles.

We slowed down, if you watched the video clearly. And where was I trying to overtake

I differ in opinion here. There is a right of way, but the driver merging on the highway can also the same thing. He is on your right side and he can say that he has the right of way. Also this part of highway is an intersection where all have to slow down, watch and then proceed. I think both City and Verna driver's should have been more considerate towards intersection and 'current traffic situation' of that intersection.

One thing which is clearly observable on our roads whether city or highway that on intersections we suddenly want to save few more seconds and instead of slowing down most of us and most of the times start accelerating.

Driver merging onto a highway from my right, left, above, below - whatever - does not have the right of way.
