Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Spotted this totally burnt Ford Ecosport on Agra-Lucknow Expressway on 1st July. It had just been lifted from the place where it had got burnt, place of incident was about 200 meters from this place. This news appears to be of the same one, news link is in Hindi. Apparently the car caught fire while on move, the 2 occupants exited the car before it was destroyed. - https://www.amarujala.com/uttar-prad...-man-save-life Last edited by BoneCollector : 3rd July 2019 at 14:29. |

| ![]() A businessman was burnt to death yesterday at Rohini, Delhi as his XUV-500 caught fire. The police, as usual, is trying to put the blame on electrical modifications ![]() Link Last edited by suhaas307 : 19th September 2019 at 12:41. Reason: Spacing |

| ![]() We all want accessories like power windows, central locking and the now compulsory dangerous feature of auto locking when vehicle exceeds some set speed. When cars get trapped in water logged places, catch fire etc. The first thing to fail are all these electrical gadgets, and they trap the occupants of the car inside. Two years ago, when I had faced a rollover, the seat belt protected me, but then it was not ready to get released, or pulled from inertia release until a few bi standers straightened out my car, what if there was no one around, and I had remained trapped there. Team-BHP Support ![]() | ![]() Thanks to Neeraj R. Mehta for sending this image in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts this Team-BHP page! ![]() This incident happened om 01/09/2019 On NH 66 (Old NH 17). An ST bus was burning near Lonere (15 km before Mahad towards Mumbai). There were long traffic jams (about 40 km non-moving lines). The fire had been controlled and all passengers had alighted. Everyone's luggage was burnt though. The local MLA compensated the passengers. Prelim theories suggest a short circuit in front compartment of the bus. |

| ![]() Talk about the reasons why vehicles catch fire! This guy, as per news report, set his jeep on fire as it didn't start. Friend takes a video, more friends make a tik tok video by adding a song to it. The owner was arrested for being reckless. This is a strange world we live in. https://www.ndtv.com/ahmedabad-news/...ome-topstories Quote:

| ![]() CCTV footage of a bike catching fire when being filled up at a petrol bunk. The fire looks to be spontaneous - the rider seems to take money from his pocket (initially I thought it was a mobile phone) just before the fire starts. The employees quickly douse the fire with fire extinguishers. I can't make out if they stopped the petrol using the emergency stop button when this happened. The employee filling the petrol has a fire extinguisher right next to his dispenser, but doesn't use it - probably panicked a little, but by then 2 other employees seemed to have grabbed fire extinguishers |

This video highlights the need for regular (monthly?) drills for all employees of fuel filling stations, to reduce panic and improve reaction times. Even the person who tried to extinguish the fire does not seem to have pointed the nozzle towards the base of the fire initially. It would be interesting to see the same video showing a minute before and after this video started/ended. That would have made the source of the fire and outcome of the fire fighting effort clearer. | |

| ![]() This is quite an adventurous fire incident in a truck in Assam (Barpeta Mandia road as per reports). The load on the truck catches fire. The trucker unfortunately does not have a fire extinguisher. So he parks next to a pond or a lake and the bystanders push it into the water to extinguish the flames. I'm wondering if there was a better way to handle the situation. Shouldn't all commercial vehicles have a fire extinguisher? I probably need to get one for my car too. |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yikes! Now that is serious 'testing' to the limit. Hope everyone got out okay. Mahindra has bad luck with test mules. I remember at least two earlier ones that had crashed (here is one of them). |

| ![]() Another incident of a bike catching fire at a petrol bunk. It was put before too much damage, but there was initial panic and some difficulty in getting the extinguisher working and aiming it correctly. I'm not able to make out what caused the fire.
