Re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

I had crossed Kunigal and turned on gmaps where the option it showed was through Hassan/sakleshpur/Shiradi to Kukke. The other one through Bisle showed 42 mins slower. I thought I’ll check it out, given I was in my Crysta today.

Roads have dramatically improved. The Hassan-Sakkeshpur sections have very minimal deviations with >90% having good and smooth surface.

The Shiradi section till the Kukke left turn was very decent, barring small stretches of off road type surfaces. Overall, easily manageable by a sedan too. I see lots of work going on and both sides of the highway should be ready in a few weeks I guess.

I did reach quicker than I normally do.

Re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

Route update from Hassan to Kukke Subramanya as on today 1st May.

Hassan to Sakleshpura - Decent roads overall with very few (may be 200m) of bad stretches.

Sakleshpura to Gundya turn - Concrete road. All potholes patched or asphalted. No issues at all.

Gundya to Kukke - Excellent butters smooth dark black tarmac.

Excellent crisp update, many thanks.

Anyone have any updates after the rains have hit? Also, any recommendations on staying overnight at Kukke?

Hassan-Sakleshpur is decent barring two small stretch(less than 100m). Sakleshpur-Marnahalli was asphalted recently(a month or two back), after 2 weeks of mad rain, there are few potholes. If rains continue in same fashion, it will not take much time for the road to go back what it was. Ghat roads are good, and Gundya-Subrahmanya is fantastic especially in your 3!

RNS one and Aditya are good places to stay.

Gundya to Kukke is in good condition, no troubles. Took Bisile ghat (Jul 09) and joined Donigal, route is good, except for some widened stormwater gutters in Bisile ghat, road is decent. Bisile Viewpoint to Donigal is very good.
Jun 30, I took Shiradi Ghat, roads were fine and no issues (heavy rains came after that for several days!).

How is the BLR - Kukke now?

Some worrying visuals from last week:

The water should have gone down by now. For route query, Around Donigal, roads have gone bad, getting worse day-by-day. Between Sakaleshpura and Haasana, non-concrete strech has gone bad, rest is good.

Re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

Hi,
Anyone travelled via Bisle Ghat recently to Mangalore / Kukke? Need to know the condition of the road. Heard Shiradi is again in tatters after the rains!
I have a function to attend at Bantwal this weekend and I plan to take Bisle Ghat route while returning to Bangalore for the sceneries.

I took the Bisile ghat the last weekend (26-27 August) and it is manageable, here and there you can find few tree branches fallen off but thats it and maybe a few puddles otherwise road is good and worth the extra time taken as opposed to Shiradi.

Re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

Hi folks,
I drove through Bisle Ghat last Sunday (13/11).
There were a few potholes in the initial 5kms but later on, the concrete road was good and with few oncoming vehicles (mostly pick-ups), driving through the ghats was extremely satisfying .

Would highly recommend visiting the viewpoint at the top of the hill, where the view is breathtaking (was extremely windy at the viewpoint).

Re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

I came back from a trip to Kukke, and while going, I took the Bisile Ghat road, and for the return journey, I took the Shiradi Ghat road. The road from Shanivarasante to Bisile is quite decent, but the last 10 km of Bisile Ghat is in bad condition. Today I left Kukke at 4:00 am, and reached home at 8:10 am. Thanks to the WC Finals, there was less crowd at the temple and fewer trucks on the road this morning.

Plan to drive there, have darshan and return the next day.
