@audioholic .Great , it seems that you are the most luckiest person . I had visited tirupathi 3 times in this year . It has taken time ranging from 5 hours to 11 hours in the sheegra darshan .

re: Bangalore to Tirupati : Route Queries

Friends,

Heard that the entry timing for senior citizens queue is now limited only to thrice a day ( like 10 am, 3 pm and sometime in evening). Is it true? I thought they are allowed once in every 2 hours or so earlier.

Also, for female senior citizens, is the age minimum limit 65+ or 60+.

Can someone confirm, as my BIL's family is planning for a trip to Tirumala.

Thanks
-Ravi

re: Bangalore to Tirupati : Route Queries

It was like that from when I know about it. It is four times in a day or so and not every two hours. Along with that, there is a slot for parents with infants, handicapped and so on. So, senior citizens get four slots per day. Also, if they plan to take an attendant with them, they must prove that an attendant is required Paid a quick visit last week and all of us slipped in with senior citizens. Else, darshan would have been impossible due to some telugu conference going on.

re: Bangalore to Tirupati : Route Queries

Had been to Tirumala two days back (my first visit). Decided to take the stairs.
Total climb time: 3 hours 15 minutes.
Total Darshan time: 4 hours 15 minutes. This was on a Monday, the day after rathasaptami.

Awesome experience!

+1. Before the petrol head in me caught on, I used to take the buses.

A typical cycle of events:

- Friday night, get on a Volvo at Majestic
- Reach the base of stairs at 3 / 3:30 AM
- Take the ticket and start climbing
- Reach at the top by 7AM
- Take bath, get into the queue at about 8 AM and be out 10/11AM
(You wont believe that I have done this at least 4-5 times and this timing worked all the time. Or I was just plain lucky each time!)
- Come down to Tirupathi by about 12 and directly go to Mayura/Bheemas.
- Commit the sin of gluttony!
- Come back to the bus stand and hop on to another Volvo at 3PM to be back at Bangalore by 8PM!

Walking up is fun. First 2km are very steep but later its real fun.

You used Srivari Mettu?

AFAIK, on the Alapiri route, the tickets were issued at Kaali Gopuram, which is located at step 2083 (Somewhere mid-way i guess).

I had been to Tirupathi on 10/2/13 Sunday. Left home at 4.15am and the road is good until Mulbhagal and after that road is not that good till AP border. Reached Chittor Bypass around 6.45am, Had coffee there and took Chittor Bypass Road and to my surprise the bypass road was newly tarred and the 11km streatch is now good.
The road from Chittor to Kadapa road was full of trucks moving slowly till the right deviation. From there onwards empty road.
Reached Tirumala at 9.10am. Had breakfast in Mayura. Since we have taken bath early morning, stood in queue by 10.30 and finished dharshan by 1pm.
Came down the hill and had lunch and left for Bangalore around 3.40pm and reached home by 8.30pm.

Now also you will get tickets below the hill and if the person takes Stairs "Srivari Mettu" the tickets will be issued in mid way near Galli Gopuram.

Surprise to know the chitoor bypass is tarred finally. But have to wait and see how long it sustains.

Which ticket you took for darshan, that got over in ~3 hours on a sunday?

We stood in Rs.300 queue and on that Sunday, there was not much rush. We were surprised that the darshan completed in just 3hrs on a sunday. Its Exams time now and hence there will be less people until March end.

Guys a question-
What is the minimum age of a child to buy a separate ticket in Seegra Darshan?

Would appreciate if someone can throw light.
