Can you tell me how is Bhavani-Coimbatore and Palaghat-Thrissur (bypass).
............
I heard the Palaghat-Thrissur (bypass) condition has deteriorated a lot after rains.

9.30 Hr pretty good. I now have reasons to believe that the road conditions are better than I expected.
PGT BP is full of patched up potholes, still you can do decent spees. Its not as bad as it used to be. Trichur BP is in good conditions, many sections are full 4 track now.

Only on Kuthiran the roads are bad, but still passable.

I drove from PGT to Cochin and back on 7th.

Thanks to pgginish and ram for the update.
One of my friend did Bangalore-Kottayam-Bangalore this week and he also says the roads are in good condition. N47 in TN is almost done and the Kerala part is fully patched up.
It is better to avoid Nilambur route if you are going to Central Kerala.

Couldn't agree with you more. The B'lore - Hosur - Dharmapuri - Coimbatore - Palghat - Trichur route is so much better than the Nilambur one for people travelling to Cochin or farther down.

I too meant B'lore - Hosur - Dharmapuri - Coimbatore - Palghat - Trichur is better now. Was there a confusion in my previous post?.

Good news for those who are traveling via Plaghat-Coimbatore route. Vazhiyoram restaurant run by KTDC near Walayar is very good. I had my breakfast from there. Prices are very nominal and food is tasty.

Any more reviews???

We did , Bangy kerala for Onam.

Bangalore-Krishnagiri-Mettur-Bhavani-Palakkad-Ottappalam-Shoranur. Approx 7.5 hrs. We were driving pretty slow owing to a payload of well over a ton in the car. The palakkad ottappalam stretch is just beautiful.

Next was Shornur-Pattambi for Steers cousins wedding with the loaded car, which was terrible to say the least.

Shoranur-trichur-cochin is uneventful, with the chalakkudi-angamaly stretch being unpredictacle

On the return, I had to pick up a cousin from Nilambur. Hence we did Vyttila-trichur-shoranur(kolappully)-cherpulasserry-perinthalmanna-Nilambur in 3.45 hrs. and Nilambur-Bangalore in hold your breath 4.5 hrs. Helps that we started from Nilambur at 11:15pm

Most part of the road is good. about 20kms are bad, but that is what my truck is built for.

We have consistantly done Cochin-bangalore thru coimby and mettur in 8 hours.

Vijay

Vijay, good speeds indeed! Is the Nilambur-Gudalur road open at night?

4.5 Hrs. I am surprised too!
You need to be driving crazy and show no mercy to the bad stretch at Bandhipur.

Even the Mysore road is not that good for cruising now. Traffic density has increased significantly.

@hvkumar - Yes sir the roads are open in the night. No two wheelers though.
we would have done it in 15 minutes lesser , but stopped to look at a her of elephants, three of which were on the road. Too good to let go.

@Path_Finder @ sj_koova, jaggu got it rite. I drive a scorpio, and yes I have swaraj mazda head light domes in my fog lamp running the stock 55/60 lights. All running on low beam most of the time.

And yes I show no mercy on rough roads. As a matter of fact on the gundlupet -bandipur stretch , the truck pitches and rolls if driven slow, but glides if you floor it. I typically do that stretch @ 80 when most sane drivers are doing 20
Truck is holding up
