Is Night journey safe on Pune- Nagpur route ?

Hi Guys,
Need to attend a Friend's wedding on 3rd Dec 09 in Nagpur & being a weekday due to everybody's Leave constraint, we have to do this route Pune - Nagpur & again back on 2nd & 3rd Dec night resp.

We have zero-ed down on following route :
Pune > A'nagar > Aurangabad > Jalna > Chikhali > Khamgaon > Akola > Murtazapur > Amravati > Nagpur

Total Distance comes down to ~ 785 kms (expected travel time ~ 12 hrs)

I wanted to know whether it is safe to do this All-Night Drive, without any issues ?

Regards,
SID

Hi Sid,

Please refer my post for the travel. It has my trip log from Pune to Nagpur.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ml#post1516851

There are less options to eat/refuel after jalna till Wardha.
My preffered route is Pune-Aurangabad-Jalna-Mehkar-Karanja-Pulgaon-Wardha-Nagpur. (690Km. from Hadapsar to Ring Road Nagpur).
Its safe driving in night while going from pune if you start around 11.00PM then you can reach around 10.00 AM. For driving in night near nagpur, i didnt hear any bad instance, Nagpur BHP's can provide better info on this.

Whomsoever is driving after marriage will be in much stress. Another option is you can take Prasanna/Khurana's Volvo, they are comfortable and Departure from nagpur is 7PM reach pune at 6AM.

Hi shabahmad,
Thanks for quick reply.
I'm taking my driver along, so won't be an issue.

Yeah but finding a decent Restaurant for Dinner seems an issue on this route.
Any pointers for this ?

nice trip!

hi siddhu,

i did this trip in oct 09 too but took the mehekar route both sides, being quite familiar with it because of my earlier trips to Nagpur.

by the way, there is a really awesome restaurant called at Thapar's Inn at ahmednagar just before you exit ahmednagar (a few kms before army institute on right). it is at left from the crossing after one of the hotels on left. really good food, ambience and location.

also, the problem with mehekar route is there is no decent food joint if you cross it a lunch/dinner time. its better to have food at jalna or amravati.

Roads are good throughout though, except a small patch between (mehekar and karanja i think) but its only 50-60 metres.

Guys, I am planning to do the Pune - Ngp - Pune in this May. This is for the first time I will be visiting Ngp. Are the routes said on this thread safe enough to take ladies along? I will starting early (5am) from Pune and at same time from Ngp. Also how are the recent road conditions?

The route is "SAFE ENOUGH", even at night, buses between Nagpur-Pune-Nagpur generally ply during night time. You are starting at 5 am in the morning, you would be able to make it by late evening.

Road is in good condition. One of my friends does Pune-Nagpur in less than 10 hours via Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Mehkar and Wardha.

Just came back from Amravati yesterday. Earlier the only sore point in the trips was the road in Shelu Bazaaar and surprise that bad road is history. Now I can safely say that raod from Pune to Amaravti via Karanja is AMAZING. The only potholes you will find is at Jalna bypass other than that I was 120kmph for the whole trip.

Pune-Ahmednagar 150 kms-Aurangabad 110-Jalna 70-Sindkhed Raja 30-Mehkar 60-Malegaon 55-Karanja 60-Yavatmal 85-Pandharkawada (NH7) 70-Wani 55-Chandrapur 50

Excellent roads throughout. You can do it in 8-10 hours.

Great!, thanks a lot hvkumar.
I have already part of this route (Sindkhed Raja) this January when I went to Lonar so can vouch for that - just wanted to know if can be done w/o breaking up my journey - your post should be able to convince my wife
(she is a reluctant driver - hence I have to drive almost always on any trips. Although I love to drive, 8-10 hrs a day is not something I would enjoy doing especially on unknown roads) But now I think it can be done if we start early from Pune.

Yes, with an early start from Pune, you can reach Chandrapur by evening.
