No idea about Kishkinda resort, but I'm guessing it's on the Anegundi side ? In that case not a great idea.
I can comment on the 3 hotels that ranjit has listed above:
1.Clarks Inn - nice place, closest to the Hampi ruins as its near Kamlapur.

2.Malligi - nice place but located just off one of the most crowded streets inside Hospet. Getting in and out is sometimes difficult in heavy traffic.

3.Royal Orchid - excellent place, well located at Hospet just opposite the road leading to Kamlapur and Hampi.

**Given that your plan is just for 1 day I would suggest staying at Clarks Inn.

Any suggestions for budget hotels in Munnar? We are 5 adults on a trip in the month of October.

I had asked the same query few months before, I got following suggestions.

Hotel Ramdev, Sankam Residency, Belagavi and Clarks Inn, Hubli

When I checked, all these hotels were full. So no feedback.

Did you look at this thread? You may find something there, or you may want to post your query on that thread.

I heard that Kishkinda Resort is at a distance from the magnificient temples of Hampi so I'm looking for suggestions that can help me plan in a better way.

The first thing is what route you intend to take?
Kishkinda is a very nice property and around 6km from the river side. You need to cross the river by boat to see Hampi ruins. Boat service stops at 5pm.
I stayed in Malligi a fortnight back but then, I stayed for 2 nights and had 1 full day for sightseeing. Malligi costed me 5,350 all inclusive for 2 nights using the mobile app of Make My Trip.
If you can reach Hampi by noon or 1pm, you can do quite a bit of sightseeing by 6pm or till sun sets. Then stay at Malligi and you can exit easily towards Hubli next morning. Kishkinda to Hubli highway needs at least 30/45 minutes.
Let's take this discussion to the right thread which is http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ueries-14.html

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Thought of updating the thread with our experience at Dalethorpe, Kodaikanal. We stayed there during first week of May 2016.

The main section is a vintage bungalow which is more than 100 years old, where they have two suites, a big verandah and and their reception area. The adjacent building is build later in the similar structure which houses two deluxe rooms and two standard rooms, apart from an outhouse/cottage. It is more of a home stay, maintained in good condition. It is located far enough from the town’s madness and near enough to the town’s convenience. It is near to some of the good vegetarian restaurants (in case you want to have food outside). Greenery outside and a walk way around the campus along with some outdoor facilities makes the kids happy. It has sufficient car parking area also.

The deluxe room have the same facility as standard room except that it is slightly bigger. The rooms have basic facilities needed for a decent stay. The family running this were very courteous and fulfilled all our demands without a frowning. Breakfast was included in the package. They will arrange BBQ and bon-fire upon request and we had a marvelous time towards night in that wonderful weather.

Overall, a nice stay for the package. A budget accommodation with all basic amenities. They can improve more in the overall cleanliness and if they can appoint one caretaker for managing the facility and errands , they can focus more on improving the guest’s experience. That will also help them in arranging room service which is not there now. The free WiFi's speed can be increased.

If you do not want to stay in proper Chikmagalur and want to go deeper into the western ghats, around 80kms from Chikmagalur there is this place:

http://www.thekanive.com/

The location is heavenly, and they dont rob your money like some other places do given the kind of environment you get to stay in. I had been there in early june and though I have roamed every region of the western ghats, I can say this is the best. There are some places around, like a riverside which the homestay guys will take you and you can play in the water(provided the river hasnt swollen up due to rains), or a short trek. You can also visit the temple in Horanadu. A superb trip for two nights with decent food(not the luxury hotel types). sadly I dont have pictures since I lost the phoe which had all of them.

If you stay in Chikmagalur town, visit Hirekolale, its a lake in the outskirts of the town which has a beautiful surrounding and is quite not popular. These are the places which make you feel that you are in some European country with least dirt, pollution etc. Dont go to Mullayyanagiri on a weekend since these days its crowded like hell and there is a lot of traffic, people and so. Totally avoidable.

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

I am planning a trip for the long weekend. Place not yet decided (It depends on where we get accommodation !). Was considering Masinagudi, Coorg, Hampi but its all full. Do you know of any good available homestays?
Option 2 is to stay in a nearby non popular town. Any suggestions?

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Chikmagalur - three of us had been to this homestay a while ago -

http://silverwoodstay.webs.com

It is about 10-15 km from the bus stand and a nice place to stay. Their contact number is available on their website. Being close to town, but still away from the mad crowd, I prefer such a place over others which are out in nowhereland (esp if there is an emergency).

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Called up Silverwood. They are all booked for the weekend. All resorts/homestays that I checked in Chikmagalur or Bandipur or Masinagudi are full. Seems everyone is rushing to the popular holiday destinations in the long weekend.

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

What are the favorite/preferred eateries around Ooty.
Generally local cuisine is preferred. No pizza or Chinese places plz.
