Stayed for 2 days in Pondicherry at Ginger. Pretty good, clean and neat. Has good parking, neat but basic rooms.

During our 8 day and 2887 km long trip, we stayed at the following places:

Panaji, Goa: Ginger Hotels. Tariff: Rs 1619 per day for standard room for two persons after 15% discount for booking online before two weeks. What I liked: dedicated and secured car parking, availability of trolleys for transferring our luggage to our rooms. Recommended. www.gingerhotels.com

MTDC, Mahabaleshwar: The special suite given to us was anything but special. It was badly in need of painting, extensive repairs, etc. Not recommended.

Mumbai: Oritel Service Apartments, Andheri [E], Mumbai. Tariff: Rs 7 k + luxury tax Rs 700, totalling to Rs 7,700 for a 2 two bedroom, living room accommodation for 4 persons. What I liked: courteous staff, complimentary buffet breakfast, dedicated and secured car parking. Recommended. www.oritel.biz

Pune: Ginger Hotels, Wakad. Tariff: Rs 2419 per day for standard room for two persons after 15% discount for booking online before two weeks. What I liked: dedicated and secured car parking, availability of trolleys for transferring our luggage to our rooms. Recommended. www.gingerhotels.com

trrk,

Sorry. I didn't have food at the in-house restaurant. We preferred Kamat Hotel in Panaji and Naivedyam in Pune.

Arindam - Is this on pointer on the Masanagudi route? Many resorts in Masanagudi may need to shut shop if the proposed elephant corridor project takes off

Home Stay in Coorg, Palace Estate - I have heard good reviews on this one, though its slightly away from the Coorg main center !

Also if I am right there is a Bhpian who runs a homestay.
