Hotels in Kanakpura

We're doing the 100K Oxfam Trailwalker race in a couple of weeks and I'd like to get some recommendations on hotels in Kanakpura town. The ones I was able to Google were Rathna Upahar, Gopi Upahar, Sri Srinivas Sagar, and Vasu Hotel. Have not been able to get their phone numbers though

Any experience or recommendations on any of these hotels or others we may have missed? We're looking at Kanakpura as it appears closest to Check point 6 (~62K) where we will finish for the night (unless we decide to walk theu the night)

Reading your post, i'm not sure if you're looking for a place to eat at - a restaurant ? Or are you looking for a place to stay overnight - lodging accommodation ?

From your list, Vasu hotel is an eatery, much like the darshinis in bangalore. Not sure about the rest.

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Visited Chennai recently to attend a wedding at MRC Nagar. I had asked my cousins to book us at a decent place close by.

We stayed at Kings Cross Residency, LB Road, Adyar. Quite new budget hotel and was excellent, definitely value for money. Double AC Room for Rs.2100 with free Wi-fi and complimentary breakfast (did not try it since we were attending a wedding).
Location is excellent, just opposite SBI, Thiruvanmiyur, about 3 signals after Adyar flyover. This was about 4Km from MRC Nagar and very convenient to attend the wedding there. Would definitely recommend this place

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Had a nice stay at Hotel Spring Valley - Kodaikanal
Budget hotel with all required facility
- Free Wifi
- Hot Drinking water
- Covered Car parking
- Restaurant
- Outside food bought & supplied on request
- Cab facility
- One day tour arrangement

Only negative I see is the road connecting the hotel, it's horrible but only a few hundred feets. Staffs are very kind and supportive. I would rate overall 4/5

Yes, I should have been clearer -- am looking for a place to stay the night and hoping to get some recommendations. I had posted this in my last note, but this correction - which is important to the question -- was deemed to "zero value add" by the auto-moderator and deleted. A bit over the top if IMO, but I'll respect the rules here.

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Thanks but none of these is professional managed except for Sharnam, which was full.

Stayed at Leela for a night (since my boss was travelling along for a day) and the next three nights at FourPoints by Sheraton in Vashi. It was not bad going up and down the Thane Belapur road since I had a car & driver.

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

I have planned a trip to Guruvaayoor in the month of March for a couple of days.

Can someone please recommend a decent stay at Guruvaayoor near the temple for 4 adults and an infant ?

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Gokarna - Paradise Holiday Cottages

What's good -

1) Reasonably priced. We didn't even have to bargain for a discount.
2) Adequate parking space.
3) Friendly, accomodative staff.
4) Nice, clean villas.
5) Simple, tasty, inexpensive meals (vegetarian only).
6) Nice view of the coastline around Kudle beach.
7) 5 mins trek to Kudle beach and <1km from Om beach.
8) WiFi provided. Speed is decent.
9) The proprietor/manager is a fellow car enthusiast.

What's not

1) Low slung high end sedans could find negotiating the steep slope of the entry road quite a task. During heavy rains, this road can also pose quite a challenge while climbing up while leaving, unless you are in a 4x4.

PM me for contact details!

Cheers,

Sudarsan

Re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Hi Folks

I've got a situation here. 14th Feb happens to be on a weekend (Saturday) this year and i need to take my wife to a serene place, close to Bangalore, for an overnighter.

Suggest some really good place, economical for me, good for her. She is a nature lover & an avid photographer. Coorg has happened quite a lot. So some offbeat homestay or place which is less crowded & closer to nature.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Regards
Saurav

I have stayed at Hotel Elite and Hotel Rukmini Regency, both are on the East Nada, the road leading to main entrance of the temple.
You can walk up to the temple from either of these hotels but Rukmini Regency is almost next door to the temple

I had stayed at Bhasuri Inn a couple of times. It is fairy good and reasonably priced. It is very close to the temple. A walkable distance of 5 mins. They have car parking space in the underground. I think they do have complimentary break fast too. Please check it out once.
