Thanks fo rthe quick response. During my visit last year, I had stayed in the Hampi Bazar area but in a not so good home stay for 1 night. This time around I'm looking for a place in either Hampi Bazaar or Virupapur Gadde within 600 -800 budget. Details about clean guest houses are welcome

Cheers

Edakkal Hermitage, Wayanad - Kerala
Period of stay - 30-Dec-2009 to 02-Jan-2010
Total cost - 13500 for a couple that includes tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And a massage of Rs.850/ person
I had booked it through indusoutback.com though there is no price difference even if booked directly with Edakkal hermitage.

Pros: Great service, good food, fantastic location
Cons: Far away from all tourist spots in wayanad.

This is ideal for people who wants to just listen to birds chirping and trees swaying to winds.

Room in MTDC Mahabaleshwar

I have an extra double room (economy) booked at MTDC resort in Mahabaleshwar for Saturday 9th Jan (check-in 9th, check-out 10th).

Due to unforeseen situation extra persons are not traveling with us and we can't cancel the booking as it was extended once previously .

PM me if anyone (family preferred) interested to use it.

Chikmagalur

Hotel Rajmahal Palace

Rs.850/- per night for Non A/C Double.

Rooms were pretty clean and comfortable. Room Service Response was fast. Covered Parking space available for 6-7 cars.

Warning: Has a restaurant (IIRC the name was Siddharth) next door. Better to avoid it. many of my family fell ill after dinner there during my recent trip.

The above mentioned rates are too steep. They are in a habit of over charging people during heavy rush times.

Normal rates are;

Non A/C Double Room: Rs. 550/-
A/C Double Room: Rs. 750-850/-
They also have a Suite: Rs. 1,000/-

I have stayed here in the month of June and paid Rs. 500/- for a Double Non A/C room after bargaining.

My friend stayed at the Suite with his family in the month of November 2009 by Paying Rs. 1,000/- per day (Check out is 24 Hours)

Place : Bekal Fort
Hotel Name : Nirvana @ Bekal
Website : Nirvana @ Bekal- Bekal Resorts, Resorts in Bekal, Bekal Hotels, Cottages in Bekal
Tariff : 3200 per night + taxes with complimentary breakfast.

If you know to bargain you can bring it down. I stayed there and paid 3k including taxes on the 30th of Dec 2009.
I would rate this an excellent place taking into account the way the staff were well behaved and the cleanliness of the property.

A few pictures of the place.

Hi Nairk,

Chaitram is quite near to busstand and will be crowded for most part of the day.

If you are looking near Thampanoor you have Chaitram, Arya Nivas, Eilsa International , Horizon. All of them are in close proximity.

Chaitram is run by KTDC and rooms are good. Parking is limited, but believe you should get one.

Arya Nivas, is on the road opposite to railway station.(Adjacent to Police Station) . Veg hotel with good rooms. Again Parking is limited

Horizon , Elisa international are near to Arya nivas.

Hope this helps

@Remu

Thanks, I know all these hotels (basically I have routes/relations in trivandrum but away for long time, hence not sure about road traffic changes /diversions etc).

In the past, I have stayed hotels like:
Hotel Pankaj,
Hotel Horizon (belive now bit expensive?)
Hotel Highland etc

But now, I am coming on my car hence not want to held up in the unknown roads, so requesting helps from known members in that area, for proper guidence !

The road in front of Horizon, aryanivas etc goes to Aristo Junction-am I correct?
and all buses to kottayam/ernakulam used to go via this road?
