Re: Chikmagalore hotels

I didnt see any family type hotels.Homestays would be your best bet I think.

Weather is very pleasant.Days are pretty warm with the afternoons very hot,but the temperature begins to drop towards evenings and night when the temperature is around 16 degrees.

.
Planter's Court is the only non-taj/serai and relatively decent ones. Other hotels in the middle of the town are all typical lodges.

You may want to consider Nature Nirvana Holiday home (though its listed as a homestay, it appears like a typical resort).

Re: Chikmagalore hotels

There is a nice website www.travelmalnad.com which has listed some good homestays. Best bet in CKM are homestays. Also check this homestay which is also good. www.thotadhahallihomestay.com

Ofcourse, if your budget permit then splurge on Serai and Taj or Flameback!!!

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Can someone help on Chikmagalore - Attigundi Road conditions? Specifically to Apna Sapna homestay? Any feedback on the homestay is also appreciated.

Attigundi stretch was bad when I had been to kemmangundi almost 2 months back. But the good thing is road was getting repaired only till Attigundi. Just be slower at this place as road is very much narrow here.
I have no idea abt the homestay

I had stayed in Jewel Rock in Oct 2008 on the way to Goa. It was nice and very good value for money. It was recommended by one of my friends.

Jewel Rock is the good hotel in Shimoga.
In Bhadravathi, there is a hotel called Kanchana (08282 265255) though I don't have a feedback on the same.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Here's the rates for hotels in Hospet/Kamlapur/Hampi

1) Hotel Malligi :
Standard a/c -1500 + taxes (Complimentary breakfast, swimming pool)
Executive a/c - 1800 + taxes (Complimentary breakfast, swimming pool); just the furniture is better from the standard a/c
Suite - 4000 + taxes (Complimentary breakfast, swimming pool)

2) Royal Orchid : Standard a/c - 7000 + taxes (don't know about freebies)

3) Hotel Bhuvaneshwari, Kamlapur : Standard a/c - 1200 + taxes

Best bet : Hotel Malligi; Hotel Bhuvaneshwari if you want to be closer to Hampi town.

The Royal Orchid tariff keeps changing,at the moment its around INR 4500 with breakfast and taxes, easily the best at the moment in the location but definitely charges a premium as well.

I doubt that; I was in Hampi just last week (19-20th March) and this is the rate I was told.

Ampere,

We were there for a day four months back. Excellent location in middle of huge estate and paddy fields owned by Ghorpades. Spacious and well designed rooms. I would have loved if they had adpated vernacular architecture of the area instead of western. Food is average.

Overall i felt it is not value for money as they charge exhorbitantly.

Why stay in these hotels when you have good homestays in this region irrespective of whether you are driving on Shivamogga - Sagar - Jog route or Shivamogga - Tirthahalli route?

We have stayed in Bananki homestay in Tirthahalli. Outstanding food, great hosts and clean rooms.

Agree with libran.

Royal Orchid is not a value for money and rates are too high. Food was OK when we stayed six months back.

The best bet is Malligi which is value for money. Very good food too. I also understand that Krishna Palace which opened a year ago is also a good hotel.

Thanks to Ranjit for this find!

Here are some snaps. For Sherlock, just ask the rooms in the new wing. The old rooms open right on the Restaurant.

with Ampere. All their properties are lovely. Especailly Kings Cliff and Destiny farm house. The location of destiny is just out of the world.

Here is my recco - If you are planning to stay in Liitlearth group of hotels, stay one day either in Kings or Sherlocks and another day in Destiny. If you dont want to move out, atleast go to Destiny for lunch and spend couple of hours there including exploring Avalache area. You wont regret it

Thanks Fauji. Been to CKM many times. I was thinking would it be worth doing a different place. Looks like its not worth it. Thanks Again.
