Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Just confirmed with the Sherlocks for the staying in Ooty. I have posted a route related query in the thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ml#post2419754.

Thanks to all of you for providing me the valuable leads to select the resort/hotel.

Yes, Redhills is still in mind, but reserved for the next visit. .

Various restaurants nearby as well. Spacious and secured parking too. Try to get rooms away from the main road as traffic tends to get a little noisy.
thenomad and dreamdiesel - please help me with these two questions about MTDC Shirdi, if you can.

1) Do they have sufficient parking space for four-wheelers?

2) If I were to reserve over phone, would they give me a confirmation number for the purpose of tracking? Also, do they take an advance for bookings made over phone?

Thank you.

I stayed at the MTDC "The Pilgrims Inn" in Shirdi last month and it was very good. The hotel is situated on the road between the mandir and Prasadalaya, where all the shops are located. My observations

1. Rooms are very spacious. We stayed in a three bedroom but easily it can accommodate 2 additional beds. We paid 1500.00 as room rent and taxes of Rs 227.00
2. The shower was separate from the toilet and add an additional wash basin as well.
3. 5 minutes to the shrine via the rear entrance.
4. Huge open and guarded parking space in the same campus. Once you pull in car, there is no reason to pull it out as everything is very accessible.
5. Very silent and not much of road traffic.

The food in the restaurant was average. I liked the new Udipi hotel beside the side entrance, which is again walkable by 10 minutes.

It's best to reserve in advance over the internet. In my case when I checked 2 days in advance, there was no availability over the Internet. So I called them over phone and they took a note of my name and number and asked me come down.

I reconfirmed my accommodation before starting and finally got accommodated. Overall I'd say it was a good experience and would stay there again.

MTDC The Pilgrims Inn,
Shirdi - 423 109
Phone - (02423) 255194/95/96/97

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Can any one suggest a good accommodation in Ooty . I have only a budget of Rs.1500/- per room/cottage.

The off-season rate of Lakview fits my requirements, but wanted to know other options as well.

This is for August trip - two families.

You also may look into this place. A bit far(20KM) from Ooty, place called Kotagiri. I had been to there and stayed for a day.

Lake view is good place to stay and don't expect any lakes there but it is worth for the price you pay.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

I have searched this thread and found a few leads but they all are beyond my budget even if I could stretch the same.

I am searching for a place (hotel / service apartment) near Brindavan (Sai Baba's ashram) in Whitefield area, preferably, on the northern side of the ashram on SH 35.

I need a couple of clean A/C double rooms with clean toilets in Rs. 1,000 - 1,500 per room per night range for the Independence Day weekend.

The best (location wise) I could find by googling is Welcome to Sai Renaissance. Any pointers on how this one is? The double bedroom suite here is 3,375 per night which is just in my budget.

I am not sure about the place you mentioned. Unless you are really particular to stay very close to Ashram, there are good options in Whitefield today which will be at a distance of five KMs. Why don't you look at Ginger in Whitefield. It may suit your budget.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

I'm planning for a trip to alleppey with family in October. Would like to hear from the team on some decent accommodation preferrably near to coast with good food at reasonable cost.

Can u also suggest me good restaurants in alleppey of sea food speciality.

I heard about KTDC-Tamarind hotel run by Govt. Of Kerala. How about staying here with family? Your opinions on this please.

For Whitefield, here is some budget hotels:
Ginger
Mapple
Also premium serviced apartments available @ Rs. 1200-1500.

Ginger & Mapple are a bit over the budget.

Can you give me links, numbers, emails to such service apartments so that I can contact them? Thanks!

Not sure if you will find too many options given your budget.
I would still recommend Lakeview since it is on the outskirts (away from the crowds in the town) and you just need to take a right turn immediately after the ghat road from gudalur ends and you enter Ooty. Also the resort has nice cottages on small lanes inside so you can park your cars right in front of the cottage. And the place is located just near the back side of the ooty lake where you have a mini boat house and park which is not frequented by tourists as much as the front entrance of the lake with the main boat house.

Have seen KTDC hotel on the main highway at Alleppey. Not aware of any one next to the backwaters or lake. Lemon Tree hotel is one of the better resorts, but expensive at 4k onwards. If looking for budget accommodation, check out various home stays along the backwaters ranging from 1k onwards.

If looking for a overnight houseboat cruise, check with the Private players rather than Govt. owned ones which are actually expensive. Bargain hard, ignore the numerous touts who approach you and try and strike a deal with the boat crew. Or check with the home stay or hotel if you are staying in one.

Food options are plenty. Within Alleppey town or small shacks selling yummy seafood along the backwaters.
