If you take a left from Indhapur (100 kms from Solapur towards Pune), you can bypass Pune (via Baramati). Most of the bhpians use this route while going towards Mumbai. Did Khandala (The other Khandala village which is on NH4)-> Lonand -> Baramati -> Indhapur -> Solapur -> Hyd a few days back.

except the Khandala -> Lonand stretch, the rest is a fantastic piece of 2 lane highway with no traffic. So the only bad traffic you will get would be Solapur -> Indhapur (even this takes around 1.5 hrs only)

I myself would be doing Delhi-> Hyd in a santro next week. So Inputs about places to stay would be welcome.

Planning a ride to Delhi, Hyd-Nagpur-Seoni-Jhansi-Delhi, how are the road conditions on this route, is there a better alternative route? Any help is appreciated.

Bad in many sectors:
ADilabad (AP-MH border)-HInganghat, road widening going on
Nagpur-Seoni, many bad sections
Laknadon-Sagar, road widening going on, good and some bad
Jhansi-Gwalior, road widening going on

I drove on this route in September this year. It was a real torture to drive from Nagpur to Gwalior. Driving through Lakhnadon, Sagar and Jhansi was painful not only to me but also to my Linea which got bottom-scraped 21 times before reaching Gwalior.

Just completed a round trip Hyderabad-Bhopal-Hyderabad

Hyd to Bhopal route

Hyd-Adilabad-Nagpur - good - work ongoing, but can be done in about 6~7 hours.

Nagpur-Bhopal via Betul Itarsi is just not motorable. I started towards Bhopal around 2pm and could reach Itarsi only by 9:30pm. Started next day again at 7:30am and reached Bhopal by 10:00am. I would say avoid this stretch until further works are done.

On my return i took the following route

Bhopal - Narsinghpur -Seoni - Nagpur. Although this is longer, NH12 upto Bareily is good. Bareily to the junction of NH12/ NH26 is again bad. NH26 - work is going on but is good, just be careful on the detour sections where rail over bridges are being built. NH26 and NH7 upto the point where you enter the Pench reserve forest is good. After that almost upto Nagpur is only 2 laned and bad road.

In my opinion, roads in MP are not predictable at all.

Does driving upto Indore and then via the 4laned road to Bhopal make more sense,in view of the bad conditions on the Hoshangabad route to Bhopal?

Roads are mostly good, but till you reach Surat, you are mostly on 2-laned roads.

From Gwalior it is excellent 4-laned roads. However, I think the Dholpur bypass is still incomplete, and there are some jams there.

Agra city - there is a bypass, not so simple, maybe you should stick to the road through the city.

I have only updates of road conditions at different times.
In general, route is fine till Dewas.
I would not go via Kota, instead preferring to go on NH3 itself north of Indore via Guna, Shivpuri & Gwalior to Agra.
Better still from Indore, I would go via Ujjain, Ratlam, Neemuch to Chittorgarh and connect with the GQ route to Delhi via Bhilwara, Kishangarh & Jaipur.

If you are still particular about going via Kota, I may caution you that I think I heard - but not sure - that the route via Jhalawar is not great, also some bad roads between KOta and Tonk.
