nagpur - laknodon - jhansi is good road. you may have to take deviation in between, for bypassing the bridges, but other it is comfortably doable. I have been in this route last August and I have done in 8hrs from jhansi to nagpur

From Nagpur onwards, the NH7 is quite bad after crossing into the MP border, and improves somewhat from Seoni till Laknadon. From Laknadon onwards, 4-laning work is still going on in at least 50% of the Lakandaon-Sagar-Lalitpur-Jhansi sector.

Nagpur has many hotels depending on your budget - Pride, Centre Point, etc.
Jhansi has Hotel Sita, which is quite good.

re: Hyderabad to Delhi : Route Queries

thanks contactme27 and HVK.
Some more info required :-

1. After Jhansi - Which route is better - via etawah and take nh2
or Via Gwalior Dholpur Agra

2. Any update of Yamuna Expressway Opened ?

3. HYBD bypass from BLR. Planning to do Blr - Nagpur nonstop.
What i planned is take JN Expway exit at Gachibowli and take Gwachibowli - Miyapur road to hit NH9. From there to NH7.
Suggestions please.

Thanks

I would suggest you to take the Medak road from Miyapur. Once you are gachibowli - miyapur road, hit NH9 junction take the right and at about half a kilometer, look out for " Gandimaisamma" take the left and its a straight road from there. Road is good and saves you a lot of time as Kukatpally stretch is now a mess due to Metro constructions. You will be in NH7 from Miyapur in less than 30 mins. I have provided the link from google maps as well.

Venkatesh

Hybd - Nagpur - 60 to 80 kms was bad.
Nagpur Jhansi - First 250 kms has lots of diversions, Pench area around 35kms roads doesnt exists.

Jhansi - Gwalior - widening going on. In bad shape.

How much of the Laknadon-Sagar-Lalitpur-Jhansi sector is now 4-laned? Is the rest of that sector bad or just that there are many diversions and debris?

Jhansi-Gwalior - is work going on? Or at stand-still. THis sector is being widened for the last many years now! And I remember there was no work going on in the UP side.

Is the Dholpur Chambal River Bridge and bypass done?

How did you cross Agra city?

It seems Only Seoni to Lakhnadon is six lane and is complete.
Rest have lot of diversions.
What time did you leave Nagpur and reached Gwalior.

Here are the details

Nagpur - 30 kms is good condition after Kamptee.
Entire Pench Area - 30 odd Kms is Bad rather No road.
After Bison Resort - Road condition improves by 2 lane.

From Karia till Chapra - 4 laneing complete - 50 odd kms.
Next 130 kms is full of diversions and bad road. Laknadon till Kareli
After Narmada Bridge - the situation improves and last 250 kms is in excellent condition.

Babina - Jhansi 25 kms is single lane with very high traffic.

Entire Jhansi - Gwalior is under construction. Full of diversions and untared road too. There is no bypass for gwalior. One has to go through Morar city to Join NH3. Road is bad again with very high traffic.

Dholpur too is in a messy condition. Chambal bridge still incomplete.

Agra - I took bypass which is now in good shape. It is 9 kms before Agra. Only issue is it has 4 fatak. Road condition is good with reasonable traffic.

@gajadonga
We did nagpur - Jhansi only. Beyond that is not possible in a single day drive also is very tiring. Jhansi - Gwalior itself required 3 hr + due to bad roads and diversions.

re: Hyderabad to Delhi : Route Queries

I am planning to drive from Hyderabad to Delhi on 8th March.
Still undecided on the route:
1. Hyd-Nagpur-Bhopal-Gwalior-Delhi.
2. Hyd-Nagpur-Sagar-Gwalior-Delhi.

I am kind of inclined towards the bhopal route.
But need some update on the road conditions.

How long would Nagpur-Bhopal and Bhopal-Gwalior take ?

Check with @bblost. He just covered the same in a bike!
He went via Indore. (route link)

Nizamabad, Basar, Bhainsa, Hingoli, Patur, Indore.
There on to NH79 and NH8 (4L).

re: Hyderabad to Delhi : Route Queries

I have to go to Agra from Hyderabad on 28th and have the weekend to reach there.

From mining the forums, it looks like there may not be much too choose between Nagpur-Sagar-Gwalior vs Nagpur-Bhopal-Gwalior option. However just get this feeling looking at tripadvisor that stay options in Bhopal may be better.

1. If I start early say 3 AM, will I be able to make it to Bhopal by 7 or 8 in the night same day? we have two drivers - both of us have done non-stops runs of 14-16 hours together and have a rugged 4wd Scorp for this trip.

2. Is there a way to bypass Nagpur else I think I will spend a lot of time traversing the city? On the outskirts, Is there a decent hotel/restaurant which can be used as I also have couple of kids who would have some needs.

3. In Bhopal, anyone has any recommendations for 3k-5k Rs hotel for the night w/o bothering for A/C working, clean toilets etc.

Cheers
Rajesh

Yes, it will be a comfortable drive, you should reach by evening.

It is one straight road through Nagpur city, no traffic issues, signages are good, you will come to a junction after railway station turning, where left takes you on NH69 towards Betul/Bhopal, right continues as NH7 to Jabalpur.

There is also a Ring Road that starts a little after you cross the Airport (turn left), that will also take you to NH69 after the first intersection the Amaravathi highway (NH6).

re: Hyderabad to Delhi : Route Queries

Thanks HVK, I will post back any changes in route conditions beyond what is available in the thread so far.
If I read you right, there is no material gain by choosing ring road over driving through the city?
