If you are still up for that ride through Charmadi, you are in luck! The stretch has been opened for lighter traffic today. However, vehicles will be allowed only from morning 6 to 6 in the evening.

Saar, whats the best route from CKM to Sagara now? Lingadahalli - Bhadra - Shivamogga? Planning a ride to Jog given that gates are open + I will be in CKM this weekend. Thanks

I will always opt for the Lingadahalli route over Kadur route. It's the best choice and it's peaceful, at least till Tarikere.

Did this route a few months back from CKM to JLR Bhadra and back. Was excellent throughout. Not sure what the rains have done to this road.

Don't think this one may have got affected as the others because it doesn't pass through extremely higher terrain(or thick) like the ones leading towards Kemmanugundi or Giri. We had done this with a convoy of 7 cars for a family wedding and not a vehicle overtook us till Tarikere . That is how peaceful this one is.

With your Tank you should worry less about bad roads then. You may only want to keep tab on rains that's all which will be a deal-breaker!

A friend from Shimoga had messaged 3 weeks back as my Bro in law was driving to Jog and he had confirmed the road to be in good shape. This was the same weekend when everyone was advised to stay put and he had to make a U turn at Mysore when driving to Waynad and was asking me about the route conditions to Jog. Of course, he never drove to Jog then but roads as I mentioned were in driveable condition on that weekend too.

Lingadahalli route is THE BEST now. Kadur road is a mess; highly slippery and slow, specially after a bout of rain.

Shimoga - Sagara is good, as heard from a friend who took the same last week.

We are planning a weekend trip to Chikmagalur end of Sept or 1st week of Oct. Curious to know the current status of Roads from BLR - Chikmagalur and around Chikmagalur, especially after the recent heavy rains.

We will be 2 families with 2 toddlers (both around a year old).

Depends where around Chikmagalur. As for Chikmagalur itself is concerned, roads remain good all the way to destination.
