- You will cross Pollachi between Palladam and Valparai. You omitted that town from the list
- If you plan to have break fast at Perundurai by say 8/9 AM, the you would be in Valparai for break fast!
- A rough calculation : Bangalore you start at 4AM, you would be in Perundurai at 8AM. You start from Perundurai, you would be in Pollachi by 11/11:30 and in Valparai by 1PM.

Thanks Amp. I have now added Pollachi to the route. Yes, your guess is correct, we plan to leave Bangalore around 4-4.30 AM. So, in that case, we will be reaching the estate at Valparai for lunch.

How are the roads from Perundurai-Kangeyam-Palladam-Pollachi -Valparai ?

One word : BRILLIANT.

That section of TN is awesome to drive. Though I heard last a small section on Perundurai-Kangeyam stretch is a bit rough. (I think its was @NPV who mentioned that).
But over all its a beauty to drive. Nothing to worry. The ghat section is narrow, but its low on traffic.

And you cannot easily bypass Pollachi. You need to ask for Valparai or Aliyar and people will guide you. The town is full of one ways!

Also I hope you are aware Annalakshmi is on the Perundurai bypass. So while driving from Salem, you should not enter Perundurai town but the take the bypass road towards Coimbattore. You will see the place on your left. First you see Aryas on your right (other side of the highway) followed by Annalakshmi.

Ask for the Govindapuram road at pollachi and people would put you onto the right road.Once on the Govindapuram road, look for the left diversion towards valparai which is prominently displayed.

The Saravana Bhavan is a far better place to stop than Annalakshmi.Comes to your left at the Sankari toll gate.

Kiran: I had taken the Palladam- Pollachi route to Valparai after taking diversion from Annalakshmi. You can find the route here http://goo.gl/maps/4v0gA . Also keep an eye out for moped riders in Palladam - Pollachi route, they are bit unpredictable with their suicidal skills. You can check the route details from Bangalore in my earlier post in this thread : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ml#post2953635

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Just returned from a trip to Valparai. We took the Bangalore --> Salem --> Perendurai --> Kangeyam --> Valparai route both ways.
We left Bangalore at 4.30 AM from Jayanagar in a Nissan Sunny and were in Valparai by 02:00 PM after a 90 minute breakfast stop. On the return we left Valparai by 12 noon and were in Jayanagar Bangalore by 08:30 PM after a one hour lunch stop and quite a few other breaks.
Bangalore to Krishnagiri is a little busy and has some diversions for construction. The Perendurai --> Kangeyam --> Valparai road is narrow but has a good surface. Two wheelers are a major problem and you have to watch your speed. We passed an accident that had happened minutes ago where a truck had run over moped rider.
We stopped for breakfast at Salem at about 07:00 at a nice hotel called Grand http://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserRe...ECK_RATES_CONT off the highway in Salem, they have a nice buffet breakfast spread for 300 + taxes and 3 star bathrooms. Worth the money for both the food and the bathrooms.
On the way back we stopped for lunch in Kangeyam and ate at new chettinad place, good lunch and very nice interiors. Surprised to find something of that sort in a small town.

Pl. suggest a decent/budget hotel in Salem (on or around bypass) for a night's stay enroute Valparai.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

You can also try Devi Towers near 5 roads in Salem, Just 1 km away from highway. Should be costing you around Rs.1800 per day. Else you could try Hotel Sreshanth, Opposite to Bus stand. Will take less than 10 minutes to reach the highway from both the hotels.

re: Valparai - Stay and other info

I think with Avinashi bypass opening, the need to go via Kangeyam may come down. One can take the Avinashi bypass exit to SH for Palladam directly.

But need to know, if that exit is clean at the bypass. It should be there, but still needs to be confirmed.

re: Valparai - Stay and other info

^^ I think it is open, in last years travelouge by Fauji had mentioned he had used that route. Last november while i was planning Valparai trip i had decided not to take the route just because there were no reports on updated road condition.

Isn't this NH47 on the Salem-Coimbatore route, not the Salem-Dindigul NH7 route ?
Also, the Saravana Bhavan is easy to locate since it is within the NHAI amenity complex beside the toll plaza, on left side when going from Salem towards Coimbatore.
