There are multiple options now depending on which direction you're entering Pollachi from
The railway overbridge near the Pollachi Railway station is now complete and that road in general is wide and is the road coming from Kollengode so that leads to Market Road and the Mariamman temple junction where you can turn right on to the Aliyar/Valparai road.
One can even use the NH209 inside Pollachi town (as marked on gmaps) which is the road to Udumalaipet and then turn right at the water tank as mentioned in your earlier post.

I still doubt that NPV. Can you please point it on the maps as to which are the other options? I still think that routing option we have been using is the only option to get on to Aliyar side, in spite of the flyover being complete. Because the flyover was not the problem. If one is coming to Pollachi from Coimbatore, Palakkad, Palladam or Udumalpet sides, one WILL HAVE one to use the same route that we have discussed earlier to get onto Aliyar road.

Only if one is coming down to Valparai from Kollegode, he need not take the discussed route for Aliyar. He can get on to the to railway station flyover straight away.

Is this what you were referring to? Pollachi Bypass: NH209 to Aliyar

Thanks. My target is better roads and stop-over options. Keeping that in mind would your suggested route be better? TIA
Why not take the Trichy Dindigul udumalapet route as outlined in the screen shots attached ? The road from udumalapet is a bit iffy but it would add to the wilderness of the trip.

Would have loved to do it if it was a solo drive. With family it might be an issue.

See this earlier post - this works in both directions, so for onward to Aliyar/Valparai, get on to the NH209 towards Udumalaipet and turn right after Vasantham hotel near the water tank.

Or even the one marked on that image with Arrows to Point B since the junction is now open after the flyover construction was completed.

Thats exactly what I am saying. It does NOT work!

I think the flyover has nothing to do with it. See post 248. That picture depicts the scenario.

Now that stay, route and eateries are mostly set, next is food for the beast. Any good (preferably COCO) fuel stations on the way?

There is a COCO bump just once you exit Salem. Its along with a A2B and Polar Bear Ice Cream Joint. Pollachi has a couple of good bunks.

I read earlier that only BSNL works on Valparai. The person I made the booking with mentioned Vodafone works in some areas. Any pointers?

When we visited in 2012, only BSNL worked well, only at some places Airtel signals worked!
