Not really sure about the significance of the symbol. However, when the odometer has H on it, it can be reset only once and the moment it reaches 200 kms, it disappears.

Probably this is made in a way to keep it tamper proof. Not sure of the exact reason though.

Here is a post on the H thing. Read the page for more details. But it says that the H remains only for 200kms and after that it disappears, and here we have H400!

Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

Hello
Team its that time of my Life again, I sold my 2010 Petrol Punto Active and I am ina Look out for new petrol sedan I have approached all 3 Dealers for their Quote on their existing basic Variant Petrol sedan (HONDA,SKODA &VOLKSWAGEN)

Elite Motors bangalore has offered me a 2011 Model trendline petrol with a Discount (nothing to Rave about But still way below the existing Price), they have said that the car is in the stock yardand it has just been driven for 40 Kms as there were no takers for this Cra it remained at the stockyard from 2011.

Kindly let me know if I can go ahead with this Deal i am a Little apprehensive about this, I am scared it could be a Test Drive car, I am scared it could be a Car with a Manufacturing Defect or something .I don want to end up with a Lemon.

Kindly advise me on this Issue.

regards
Bopanna

Having dealt with Elite, I would be very careful. Just to benchmark, see what VW Palace Cross have to offer, they should have similar stock!

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

Can you afford a brand new car with the original sticker price & after the discounts that the dealer offers? Do you have the resources/time to get this old car checked thoroughly for what its worth? Will you be able to drive it around with peace of mind even after all the checks? Do you have the resources/time to take on the dealer if things turn sour? Is the price difference so much that you are tempted?

Its worth checking out only if you are the kinds who generally is willing to take the risk and live with it peacefully. If you are someone who constantly is going to worry about whether you were right in not going for the newer models, this isn't for you.

Personally, i'm not the kinds who puts my hard earned money on something like this cause 2011 sounds a long time ago and i don't have the resources/time to thoroughly check out a car like this.

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

I would suggest you turn down the offer. Moreover, 2011 model is plain with no goodies. I think the latest model has a lot more equipment than the older model. I had a '11 diesel Vento which had absolutely no features when compared to it's rivals.
Also, remaining in the stockyard for the last 1.5-2 years can have it's own side effects.

Why not Verna? That's another option.

It's a no brainer, why do you want the hassle of going through the ordeal of buying a car you are not sure of.
Could you please share the discount the dealer is offering for this car.
Let the deal go, you can still find better deals for 2012 models.

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

The only way this would be a good idea is if you're getting it at the same price point as buying a pre-owned 2011 model.

I'm no auto expert, but surely, a car lying unused in a stockyard/ garage for 2 yrs will result in tyres, suspension bushes - anything rubber and light weight, perishing. Furthermore, rust and corrosion will definitely be a factor. You should thoroughly have the car checked for that.

Difficult to believe this story about the car being in the yard remaining unsold. Vento is a hot selling car, why would it remain unsold unless there is a catch to it. Avoid it, find out the options in the used car market if you cannot afford a new one.

It is unlikely that it could be either a test drive car or a display car since both would be the top variant and not the Trendline. If it had been lying around in the yard since 2011, there is a strong reason for it. You are unlikely to be the first person to be made this offer and think of why no one else thought it to be exciting.

Personally, I would stay away from this offer even if they increase the discounts to mouth watering levels. VW A.S.S is definitely not at the maturity levels where you can take a risk like this!

Between the 3 choices you mentioned, City base variant comes with ABS and airbags while Rapid and Vento doesn't.

EDIT:

If you have the time and resources to check out this car, a better option would be to invest the same to get a top end Vento/Rapid/City/Verna from the used car market which would work out to be cheaper as well. Since you are looking for petrol sedan, there should be good low run examples which are as good as new. Another advantage I've felt with used car purchases is elimination of lemons. They are bound to be discovered and reported under warranty during the time first owner holds it and verifying the service history should take care of the same.

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

When in doubt, stay away!!

Even if it wasn't a demo car. It still has been lying almost idle in the stock yard since 2 years. There's all probability that the car's not in the best condition.
It's not worth the trouble.

Good luck

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

I would like to go with what joey has stated. A car left untouched for close to a year and a half, even in our own home would have lot of issues with all rubber and lubricated parts. Now that it has been sitting unattended in the dealer's stockyard, you'd have to be more cautious.

A friend of mine who used to work in sales of a car dealership told me that the stockyards of most dealers would be so pathetic that, we would outright reject even a newly arrived car. Dealerships cannot afford a tidy stockyard for commercial reasons. So its only at the time of registration they get the vehicle cleaned and presentable.

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

The base model Honda city comes with ABS and Airbags, right? Shouldnt that be reason enough for you to go for the Honda and not the others.

Take excellent Sales and service, low servicing costs, the VTEC, refinement, the resale price etc into consideration and I do not see any reason why you would consider any other car.

Am an extremely satisfied owner of a Honda. Lets face it, the popularity of the Vento is almost entirely due to the diesel option.

If it has to be petrol then it has to be the Honda City. Don't think twice about this.

Vento offers the best diesel engine in the segment, why do you want to pick up the Vento petrol car and that too a 2011 manufactured.

Take a TD of the City and decide on the variant that suits you.

Re: Dealer Offering a 2011 Unregistered Vento

Hello Bopanna,

As you are in doubt of the vehicle being a test vehicle, checking out the tire condition should give you a fair idea.

If, the car has run just 40 kms, they SHOULD be NEW. In case of even slight wear, stay away from this deal as, that would imply that we are being given a hoax excuse.

All the best!
