Re: The Football Thread

The title now belongs to Manutd. They played very well yesterday. Park, Valencia and Rooney were fantastic. Not sure but Chelsea looks like a team that is going to fall apart. After signing torres their team has not clicked at all. They showed no hunger at all. Manutd players were more eager and more aggressive. I think the last premier league match is on the Sunday before May 28. Manutd will try to win their next match to seal the EPL and they might play their second team for the last EPL match so that their key playes get rest.

Re: The Football Thread

As much as I hate to say it (I'm a Liverpool fan btw ), Manchester United have won their 19th title. They were deserved winners this season although they were scrappy at times, but then others were more scrappy than them. I thought Arsenal would run them close. They really had a chance but they blew it.

I saw the first half of the match yesterday and probably they should have had a couple more goals yesterday. The lesser said about Chelsea, the better. I'm sure Ancelotti will be sacked this season. IMO, that will do them no good. They just want to buy big name players, not the ones who can actually fit into the team. Example: One Fernando Torres

I saw a banner on Giggs reading 'Giggs, tearing you apart since 1991' and I guess Man U owe this title to Ryan Giggs. The level of consistency with which he has played for 20 years is hard to achieve. Man U are going to miss him a lot if and when he retires and hopefully he will at the end of this season (optimistic)

But, watch out people, Liverpool are coming right back next season!!!

Totally. it will be his 12th league title! its amazing how he has tweaked his game from being the best winger in the country for years, and now the among the best central midfielders! L.E.G.E.N.D.
And btw, he has already extended his contract for next year, so dont expect him retiring at the end of the season. he will continue to tear the EPL apart for atleast one more year

Except a certain Gerrard Pique and Carles Puyol
Besides heading, Pique also has the ability to control ball and produce a cool finish.

While Barca's philosophy playing the ball around instead of heading/hoofing up, Guardiola has started to keep for plan B as well, which explains Pique's frequent goals and Pedro scoring from direct sort of goals(long passes for counter attack for Pedro to outpace defender(s)) that you normally see in EPL.

Where's the thrill when there's nothing to chase ahead? The reason you are sitting on our 'effing' perch (as you call it), is just because you are about to topple over.

Completely agree!
And if Roy was sacked a few matches earlier, we would've easily got into the Champions league spot

Re: The Football Thread

If there was something notable about the the second half of this season it has to be Liverpool's revival. Just saw the highlights of the Liverpool Fulham match. Suarez is damn dangerous and some his skills are fantastic. A great ahtlete, a great fighter and a good team player. Kenny Daglish surely has put a new lease of life into Liverpool. With Steven Gerrard back expect some great football in the next season.

True!!! Suarez has shown why he is worth the big money. It's upto Andy Carroll to prove it now, and hopefully he will live up to expectations. And with a slew of signings this summer, we will be back on track.

@vb san, I think giving the place to Roy was itself a bad move, but now with the king at the helm, things are looking bright

Considering it was the other way round for most of the time, I guess you can be happy about it, in whatever little time you have

Indeed! Even much maligned Rafa’s favourite son Lucas is a much improved player under King Kenny.
But there is some negative news floating around the delay in Daglish not signing a permanent contract. Apparently Kenny want full control over player transfers, but the owners want Comolli to have a say in those dealings. It will be a disgrace if Kenny is not lured to stay!

True, and he almost succeeded in renaming Liverpool to Liverham!

Yeah, its the wishful thinking that drives us forward

Note to moderators: The poll on top is for 2008 CL final. Can we have it removed?
