Re: Buying from AliExpress

My package from Bangood arrived today. It was ordered on 23rd November. Item was shipped next day itself. The tracking number provided by seller did not work and I contacted customer care multiple. They always said it is on transit. Since I could not track it with any of the providers, I had given up on receiving the stuff. Out of the blue, I received an SMS from shiprocket two days back saying they have taken delivery of the item at Delhi Airport. Must have spend about 3 weeks at Delhi customs. It was a cheap RC crawler below 5k. So there was no duty to be paid.

Anyway, now that Bangood and Aliexpress no longer accepts orders, I will have to let go of this RC hobby. I can't afford the ones from Kyosho and Traxxas.

I got an aliexpress consignment few days back (cheap iPhone covers) and the country of origin is indeed Solomon Islands! This could well be to get past the customs and other probable checks.

It took over a month and a few days for the shipment to be delivered after placing the order.

The ignition switch, Fuel gas cap did not get delivered, the tracking number the mentioned on the app was dud but the status kept reflecting as "In Transit".

8th of December the app reflected the status as "cancelled". I waited for 3-4 days and raised a dispute with AE by posting screen grabs of the status requesting for a full refund.

Happy to report the I received the full refund last week.

Have used AE for my bike as spares listed on it are way cheaper than OEM BUT same quality as OEM.

Over the years have ordered front and rear sprockets, Oil filter wrench to name a few.

This was the first instance I had ordered some thing and did not receive it.

No no, I'm aware of the Indian ban on the AliExpress app but they were still shipping post that, in fact I had placed an order last week. But a couple of days ago when I tried to place an order they blocked me saying that they don't ship to India.

Even though the GOI banned them, they didn’t have to abide by it. I was hoping they would keep shipping and users could use various means to access them. Nothing on the package indicates Aliexpress anyway. Until Indian banks stopped processing payments from them, they had no reason to stop selling to India. I suppose the volume of business from India must have been low for them to not bother anymore.

That's because up till now the individual sellers were bearing the brunt.

Now pressure must have built up and Ali has been forced to do a platform block.

Can't say I'm displeased.

Re: Buying from AliExpress

It's quite unfortunate actually. AliExpress is the source of a lot of bits and bobs that you can't get locally, especially electronics. Now we are at the mercy of importers on Amazon that sell the same stuff at inflated rates

Re: Buying from AliExpress

Aliexpress is like a companion for life and the void that this ban has left is huge.
Case in point - Recently installed a led fender park & indicator lights on my thar, the lights are bright and do a good job but has resulted in the hyper flashing of the indicators.
The fix is simple just add a couple of load resistors and the flash rate gets corrected.
A set of these resistors are Rs.91 on Ali express but I am forced to buy from another site locally called RS components which retail the same resistors at Rs.500 per piece.
Don't think there will be ever a replacement for the utility that Aliexpress offered.

Have they lifted the ban on Aliexpress? I was able access the website and app and many sellers are offering shipment to India . I even tried placing an order and it worked (but I backed out at the payment screen as I am not sure how the customs fellows will react to seeing a parcel from China).

If it's for Thar V1, could you please provide the link to the item you ordered? I'm looking for replacement of those lights. Thanks! I was unable to find it on ebay.
