Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

I work from home full time so there's not much change in my setup. I have kept a minimal setup since I travel a lot; keeps things consistant.

As long as weather permits I'm usually on my balcony though.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

I have client from varying time zones. Use dual ISPs in a HA configuration just in case. The office laptop has its own DMZ subnet and a dedicated L7 firewall.

The desk also has a 9 year old Logitech GT mounted to it and a Logitech game controller. These devices help a lot getting through a day where working hours exceed 17,18 hours sometimes. The desktop houses a nvidea gt 980 ti founders edition that's few years old but still has enough juice left to throttle some heavy games.

Friends and family often say " you are privileged to work from home all the time"
What they don't realise is there is no fixed time to log in and log out.
WFH is a great tool to focus, away from the clutter however misusing this should be the last thing on our mind.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Since I work in a R&D firm, we are not allowed to do work from home due to confidentiality concerns. But due to the lockdown in my city, we are forced to work from home.

And this being the first time such thing is happening, there a lot of IT issues like I am unable to login to my mail and other stuff. Hence, I am playing Counter strike till the issue is resolved!

Also, my brother is doing work from home too and here is the setup
(left to right in that order):
1) My personal laptop with CS: GO running
2) My office laptop which is of no use now
3) My brother's laptop

Here's me... my old study table from school (that used to belong to my grandfather), a Darth Vader lamp (because, why not?) and the usual paraphernalia.

There is an 8X10 area on my first floor landing (duplex in out skirts of Bangalore) which I converted to a study and also put in an elaborate desk.

The equipment is currently makeshift, but i intend to get more ergonomic chairs and a better monitor.

Also the table faces east and there is ample natural light and the room opens upto a balcony keep it light and airy..

It belongs to my son, who is in 10+2, when he gets bored he moves into my office to study or play couple of games and get back to his room.

My WFH setup. Used to work with 4 monitors at workplace. 2 seems ok for me. I think this situation is going to make organisation rethink BCP and opinions about WFH.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Here are my Work-From-Home photos. Starts from today, hence some testing done well in advance in the morning.

Just a basic setup. Small table that we had bought for a single monitor setup. Hence the V-configuration.

Working from home? Show us your home office-wfh1.jpg

Always expected it to work seamlessly, and the ever reliable BSNL broadband has proved itself to be more than adequate for my Office work.

Has never let me down, and comparatively much better than private ISPs.
Four years ago [Not wanting to name them ISPs], two of them even openly said 'we cannot lay cable for only one of you in your entire locality' when I requested for a broadband connection.
But when I approached BSNL, reaching the right person-of-contact was cumbersome, but it all went very [I mean VERY] smooth once I filled the form and deposited the security amount. The line was up and running within 48 hours. Since then only 2 or three times there has been a glitch and seed has been in the range of 8-10 MBpS.

Slightly OT, I even ported from one of the private SIM operators to BSNL four months ago, and the 4G SIM they provided [number retained] is working flawlessly, YouTube videos hardly [or not at all] buffer, and net speed/strength more than adequate for all apps.

Space utilization for the Phone, UPS and CPU. Keyboard has its dedicated slot, mouse and Modem sit with the monitors.

Working from home? Show us your home office-wfh2.jpg

Finally the revolving seat that I procured during our Office auctions takes its place to get things running [Our office did auction off refurbished chairs and lockers instead of scrapping them four years ago and they are as good as new in functioning].

Goodness me ! Do all of you really practice clean desk policy at home as well ? And, why are multiple laptops kept open at the same time, is this for the photo shoot ? 😂

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Since both me and my wife started to work on our own business, we converted one of our room to our office. Here is our setup.
Since I do video editing an ultra widescreen monitors helps a lot.

The two baskets on the either side of the rooms is where our cats sleep while we work.
