@ guys any idea - what was the condition of the tempo's right front end? this information will definitely help.

the palio seems to have taken the blow directly (t-boned) by the left front end of the tempo.

the swifts driver could have engaged the hand brake causing it to spin out of control and left rear end gets hit by the right front end of the tempo causing the swift spin further into the rickshaw and the milk van.

Eh.. E_L : thats not what gordon meant there. What he meant was that Abhishek, was a member on the forum Blazed, and had attended one of their meets.

This does not seem to be a very likely scenario to me, even assuming it is possible. Let me just note here that if the Swift guy *braked* hard, and got his *rear* end hit by the Tempo, he committed a very bad error of judgement. He would obviously have been better off not braking at all and escaping the collision altogether.

like i said it could be... but how come the left rear end got smashed so badly (cuz the tempo was coming from the right hand side (lokhandwala side)?

My sincere apologies for being stupid . I guess the afternoon heat & sleepless nights have finally caught up with me. Sorry guys. It's a big relief for me too.

@rks: people dont die if judgements made in an accidents are correct. Also very easy to say about judgement being wrong sitting in office.

Are we trying to find out how the accident happened or trying to prove how stupid the drivers were ?

@Technocrat, you didn't get my point. What I intended to say is that such a bad lapse in judgement is not likely and can be more or less ruled out. You know what my theory is. Anyway all we can do right now is sit in the office and analyze the accident (instead of doing the work for which we are paid). The main stupidity of the drivers is in approaching a junction at high speed and side-by-side, so that visibility was even more obstructed. After that it is a matter of pure luck.

if the handbrake is pulled (rear wheels locked), the car should spin with a slight turn in the steering wheel (even in case of ABS equipped cars???)

As far as I know ABS will not kick in if handbrakes are engaged. But I don't know much about ABS.
