Luck By Chance:

Is it a comedy movie ? No
Is it a drama movie ? No
Is it a thriller movie ? No
Is it a suspense movie ? No
Is it an action movie ? No
Is it a rmoantic movie ? No

I don't know what genre the movie belongs to.

But is it a good movie ? Oh YES

I cannot put down one particular strength of the movie, but I just loved it. It is a simple story about very real characters and about a phase of life and not exactly a story thats building up to a climax.

Very nice acting by Akhtar. AWESOME performance by Rishi Kapoor.

Negatives: Music is not so special. But thankfully, not a lot of songs.
Tad predictable in the middle, but a nice ending to the story.
Some people may find it a li'l slow and boring, but I loved the movie.
Verdict: 3.75 Stars

+ 1 to that..

i found it to be more like a madhur bhandarkar type of movie where in the reality of the glamour world is potrayed..(casting couch, artificial smiles, dog eat dog to move up the ladder)

isha sharvani is looking nice, but god knows why she likes swinging around so much( in kisna it was the tree and here it was on that circus swing )

guess her mum and pop spend their honeymoon in some treehouse playing tarzan and jane..lol

overall worth watching...once that is

How come there are conflicting reports of Slumdog Millionaire? As low as 1.5 and as high as 4.5. Anyway, I am going to check it out tomorrow.

Some people didnt like the way India was shown in the movie, and so they found the whole thing repulsive.

I watched the movie before it started winning all those laurels, and watched it with an open mind. I didnt find it all too bad. Screenplay was really good.

If i start to disect the movie, then yeah.. there are faults, but then that's there in most movies.

Its well directed and though the story becomes predictable, it keeps the interest. Hence the high ratings.

But it has all negative aspects of India - dirty slums, communal riots, begging, exploitation of women, children & foreigners, child labor, gangsters & much more. We had movies which covered each of these aspects, but this movie packages all these and give it in a single capsule. There is nothing new in the movie for Indians and could be a overwhelming experience for foreigners.

I found Slumdog to be a very average movie. Nothing great shakes about it, except the story concept is new. Would prefer Luck By Chance over it anyday.

Just finished watching Slumdog and honestly I did not like it at all. The only good part was the kids. They have put in a brilliant performance. Apart from that the other cast isnt any great shakes. The lead actress hardly has a total of 10 min screen presence and that Dev Patel is just about ok. Anil Kapoor has overacted and put on a fake accent.

They have portrayed India to be nothing but a land of slums and poverty. Not a single scene showing the other side of our country. Now I know why this movie has enjoyed all the fame it got.

Though he won a Golden Globe, the OST isnt really one of Rahman's finest. Infact it's trash. I am still wondering what the hype behind "Jai Ho" is. Rahman's usual Bollywood stuff is in a different league altogether.

Overall my rating : 1/5 (The 1 rating is purely for the child actors)

This movie gets so many Oscar nominations and a brilliant film like Taare Zameen Par gets left out and doesnt even get a single nomination. Sad !! TZP is 100 times better.

Saw Luck By Chance yesterday. Great movie. Farhan Akhtar's acting is really good but couldn't understand whether Isha Sherwani was deliberately acting crap or she actually acts like that only!

Rating: 4/5

There isn't anything like "typical Guy Ritchie".
He has made classics like "Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels" & "Snatch"
but also utter crap like "Swept Away".

IMO movie is ok ok.
Story was 2 predictable. in fact first ten minutes let you know whats going to happen in the whole movie.
I was not bored but i can skip this one easily.
Farhan is fine
RIshi is great in his role.
Isha Sharvani was best for her role as she really doesn't know how to act
nothing great.

Rating -2.5/5

btw seems noone saw victory!
