Oh, are you saying that this has a logical end? If it does, I'll watch it too. If it is "to be continued...", I'll give it a pass.

Paatal Lok 5/5. OMG, what a show. The raw setting the realistic acting, had me totally hooked. Every performance is note worthy and cant be singled out for praise. The menacing eyes of Hathoda is etched in me. A must watch! Who is your co-writer friend? Kudos to the entire crew

Thanks for the recommendations, guys!

We started watching Billions (6 - 7 episodes up) and have loved it so far. In the middle of that, thanks to all the hype, switched to Paatal Lok and loved it too. Will resume Billions once that is over.

Have shortlisted your other recommendations.

Paatal Lok: 5/5

It's undoubtedly the best Hindi web series I have seen till date in crime, thriller genre. I will rate it above Sacred Games.
I liked the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul style where the initial few minutes of every episode takes us back into a different timeline of the story.
Although I believe the expletives could have been reduced to some extent but nevertheless, an amazing series overall with some great casting.

Manhunt Unabomber 5/5
If you are into readings of Foucault or Critical Theory, it will resonate a lot more. It is brilliant all along and has a nice human element of competition, jealousy, rivalry etc.

Quite good for a detective/investigation series.

Absolutely awesome writing, screenplay, acting and no funny ending twists.
Loved every minute of it!
This is the benchmark for Hindi Television Series.

Paatal Lok = 5/5 stars. Superb series . One can see Kohli's association with Audi at play here. It's the only luxury car brand you'll see in the show.

Wish they'd produce at least 2 seasons at the start, especially for such amazing shows. I enjoyed Mirzapur and am still waiting for season 2. Now, Paatal Lok will be over fast, and we'll be left wanting for more.

Advantage with watching old shows (e.g. Narcos) is no such waiting required.

Watched Suits(Season 1-8) on Netflix.

A good show overall with a nice setup and brilliant characterization. With me working in a law firm, all my friends all these years used to wonder why I hadn't seen this show yet! The characters stay with you although the basic premise does get repetitive if you watch all seasons in one go like me but it has enough twists to keep you entertained. Not sure when Season 9 will stream.

Apparently they started touring the local environment across the cities shown in the series back in 2017 to understand the fabric of the cultures involved in detail.

Asur on Voot. 5 star rating. Mythology and crime combo interpreted in modern world. Right on the edge kind of series. Probably one of the best made in India.

Special Ops. 4.25 star rating. Kay Kay Menon is a rockstar when it comes to intense roles. The direction is good though the script and plot probably lacks novelty.

Pataal lok. 4.5 star rating. Loved the rustiness of the dialogues and Jaideep ahlawat got my respect for his acting craft.

Your co-writer friend is my cousin (maternal uncle's son).

Watched 'Dark' on Netflix. Absolutely riveting watch about a small German town & the happenings there. Waiting for Season 3.

Just finished Code M on Zee5. It's a story about investigation of death of an army officer killed by militants in an encounter. It seemed open & shut case but the truth is far from what it appears to be. Would rate it 4 star.

Kindly suggest few more thriller web series on zee5.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I was not a fan of streaming shows but the lockdown scenario made me watch a few and slowly I have started to become a fan of the series. Even found them better than most movies!

Watched below mentioned series and they are highly recommended -

1. Test - Documentary based on Australia cricket, how they rose from the Ashes.
2. Selection Day - Good series showcasing a father overwhelming his sons to pursue cricket even if they don't want it. Available on Netflix
3. Inside Edge 1 & 2 - Just one word - wow! All I am hoping is that a 3rd season is in pipeline.
4. Four more shots 1 & 2- A bit cheesy to be honest, but the episodes keep one engaged and you will start loving the show once it ends. Based on the last episode of season 2, I am sure there will be season 3 soon.
5. Mirzapur - Never been a fan of shows/movies showcasing guns and bloodshed but after gangs of wasseypur, I believe Mirzapur deserves to be a movie in fact! Lovely series and looking forward to the next season.
6. Pataal Lok - Still watching it, 4 episodes are left but highly impressed with the show. All episodes keep you engaged.
7. Panchayat - A light-hearted short and sweet series. Looking at the storyline, doesn't looks like there will be any follow up season for the series though. I would love to see season 2 anyways!
8. Made in Heaven - The series was slow, but my liking towards it kept growing with each passing episode. I sincerely hope there will be a follow-up season for sure!

Next in the queue is Family Man!

Please do recommend if I am missing out on a gem of a show. Mostly Hindi preferred but open to English ones as well!
