Won't they keep adding fine on your account?

But this was back when Citi was only Citi.
Thank you very much for this post. I called the customer care number and managed to place the account closure request. Would be closed by tomorrow, and my 1 lakh would finally be free after 6 years to be invested somewhere it can grow

If you feel that FD is useless (like how I was feeling) the account closure is very simple. Call Citi care on 022-49552484 and you can request for closure. It took me just 5 minutes to get it done now.

Strange! There was an offer of converting it to a zero balance account and to let me continue using their services, but when I declined they respected my decision and took the account closure request online - no need to visit the branch.

No, they convert it to a zero balance account, so no fines would be levied.

Re: Citibank's exit from India

Having been a CitiBank customer for past 15 years, it is going to be a sad experience to have CitiBank go. Once I shifted to Citibank as my salary account, never looked back.

I'm so used to the netbanking and the easy user interface which is the best among all banks in my opinion.

Coming to present scenario, still my Citi Bank account, Debit and credit card are going fine. Though I have got Axis Cheque book and AXIS IFSC code but total transfer hasn't been done yet. The AXIS Bank netbanking or their customer service still cannot access the Citi account.

In few months it will be adieu sadly

Thanks Ben.

So irrespective of the branch we use AXISINBB.

When I google I get AXISINBB009.

Re: Citibank's exit from India

Citi was the best bank in India, even for regular joes like me who keep minimal balance. I even had a home loan with them. Exemplary service across my Suvidha, Credit card and loan. But just like Ford, they couldn't succeed here.

The moment Axis took over, I could see it took 2X more time to reach a human on the IVR. No of spam calls calling on 'behalf of Axis bank' increased. And having been an axis bank customer before, I have no doubt Axis and Citi are night and day. Time to close the account.

How are HSBC and Stan Chart for savings account? Any suggestions.

Re: Citibank's exit from India

14 july seems to be the day where one gets to use Axis bank portal. (Last (sad) day for citibank online)

Strange that no emails or other notifications have come yet (saw this on the citi portal)

I just saw it, but it says retail banking so I think for consumers, it will still continue for some more time until they fully migrate. Otherwise, there would have been mailers for the same.

Retail banking is consumer banking, for businesses it is commercial banking.

Exactly the reason why I am surprised no mails yet.

Noticed this in the previous emails sent, it mentions June 2024 as the time line for introduction to new axis bank product. We are already in middle of June. Emails sent in May had May 2024 as the timeline, so the deadline seems to be fluid here, but anyway it's fair to expect a proper communication instead of just a banner in the portal.

Re: Citibank's exit from India

Received mail from Axis bank about the replacement card for Citi Rewards credit card. It will be replaced with Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card. They have added 2 lounge access which were not available on Citi Rewards card.
