Re: Citibank's exit from India

I received an SMS for limit increase for my Citibank credit card, I am thinking why would they offer limit increase if Axis wants to axe the card or Axis is planning to continue offering the same benefits and all. Any thoughts?

Re: Citibank's exit from India

I have lots of points pending on my Indian Oil Citibank Credit Card? I do not see any place where I can redeem it for fuel. Does anyone know the best way I can redeem the points?

Re: Citibank's exit from India

Is it just me or anyone else also thinks that Citibank-Axis bank merger has left the Citibank Suvidha (Salary) account holders in a lurch ?

I mean, neither my salary account is *officially* in Citi nor its properly in Axis. I can't use Axis bank netbanking yet (even after two years of merger).

The citibank account number is not identified as Axis Bank number, hence can't be added in spend tracking apps.

Most online platforms and finance apps do not support Citibank as an option (example, for inward remittence, as a supporting bank for Net Banking etc.) And if I select Axis bank, it is unable to identify my bank as Axis based on the mobile number.

So its neither here nor there for us.

God knows when this merger will finally complete with migration of Account number to Axis !

Someone from our society works in Axis and she said to me that it is better to close the Citi account and open a new one in Axis than wait for migration because even they have no idea when it will happen.

I haven't closed the Citi account, but after my GPay stopped working today, I'm strongly considering it.

Hope you found a way to redeem Indian Oil Citibank Credit Card points.

If not, follow this link. I have replied to a similar query last year.

Gpay is working for me so far though.

If though I change Bank, I won't go with Axis.

How's HDFC for salary account ?

It's a mess, the issue is i just get an error even though i have around 5000 points. Previously i could just fill up ~ Rs 5000 worth of fuel.

gpay still works for me too. I am unable to close my CITI account because there is a loan that is going out from that account and I do not have the funds to close it yet. Hopefully it wont stop getting paid from there one fine day. I stopped and cancelled my Indian Oil CITI credit card a few months ago and moved my salary account from Suvidha to ICICI (My previous salary account which I had not closed.
Sad thing is CITI now charges me a few times for not maintaining NPV (?)

To redeem reward points against fuel purchases, the option to choose would be "Pay with points" and the minimum points needed would be 250. It will list out all eligible fuel purchases for the user to redeem the points against.

In recent weeks, the automatic surcharge waiver + accelerated reward points credit for fuel purchase at listed IOC pumps has not been working (need to raise an issue each time). Nor is the "pay with points" option listing all eligible transactions. The response from Axis Bank was that it might be caused by the migration activities.

Re: Citibank's exit from India

I have one lakh sitting idle in a CITI Suvidha account - just to avoid the NPV. I really have been very patient with CITI, but now I think it is time to visit them and give a closure request this Friday. Any pointers on what all they might ask to get this done?

When my wife closed her Citi account, all we did is call up the customer care number. Confirm her identity and done. The customer care representative asked us to cut the debit/ credit cards in three pieces and that's it. Account was closed in 12 hours without any visit.

But this was back when Citi was only Citi.

Even i noticed this in my last statement. I was charged surcharge and there was no credit afterwards. Also you cant pay for fuel now with points it seems. Also i noticed that when i paid my broadband bill with Indian Oil card, i instantly got a message to redeem it with points. But, when i tried it, it was deducting more points than the amount paid hence i ignored it.

Just call the customer care and tell them you are closing the account as you want to use the funds. They will convert it into zero balance account for 6 months.

They asked me to visit any branch or take a print out of closure form, fill it and post it for account closure. I protested but they offered RM service to verify form is correct. This is after 18 years of not needing to visit bank

I just emptied the account and even removed the quarterly interest upon credit and made it a true 0 balance account which is still active and got new cheque book too
