Thanks for the recommendation, will try this next time.

For now we ended up going to The Filter Coffee in AECS layout for lunch. They serve South Indian meals on banana leaf. Quite decent but comes no where close to Krishna Cafe.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

I have been a fan of Chef Pillai and has enjoyed the lovely food and service at Whitfield and Kochi restaurant few times in the past. But my first visit to the Richmond road branch was not the exciting, the whole experience was ruined by a large noisy unruly family group who refused to control their decibel levels after request from the hotel staff. I am not sure if it is the bitter taste from that experience, found the food taste and service levels below par from the other restaurant, wondering the scale at which their new outlets are popping up is compromising at a cost.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

Any recommendations for restaurants with good buffet spreads, preferably vegetarian only. Good ambience with a relaxed and casual setup would be nice for a lunch with the extended family.

Sattvam in either JP Nagar or Sadashiv Nagar has an excellent vegetarian buffet.

If you can let go of the buffet requirement, the Ambrosia at RR Nagar is a perfect set up for your need. It's a vegetarian restaurant, very good food, very good ambience.

Follow up question, any feedback on the buffets at these restaurants (some aren’t veg only, but will veggies have enough good stuff?):
  • Sultans of spice
  • Buff Buffet buff
  • Zest
  • 1947
  • The Higher Taste

The Higher Taste -> Buffet spread is not great. Taste is very average. Avoid.

24th Main Restaurant in JP Nagar. I guess they have buffet only during the weekend.

Subz in Jayanagar is also known for its good buffet spread.

Thanks for the feedback!
I just added the place to keep options in the mix, while veggie is what we want, we don’t really want to go Satvik.

Food at Sattvam also wasn’t very great.

Thanks, both are in our list, didn’t mention since we have tried them and know what to expect.

The Time Traveller in Sai Vishram Business Hotel in Bommasandra. Has ample space for parking, good ambience and good food too with some live counters. The only downside is travel time getting there and back.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

There is a huge water crisis in Bengaluru. So I guess that is one of the reasons.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

BHPians, we moved to Bangalore less than a year back from Gurgaon and live in Whitefield area. We have been looking for good biryani options ever since, either for ordering in or dine-in.
1. We like the Hyderabadi style biryani, but also sometimes prefer the less spicy lucknowi style.
2. We have tried a few - Meghana, Potful, RnR, BBK, Behrouz. Meghana was spicy, and we did not like the concept of dum rice and meat being separate. RnR/Donne style was not to our liking. BBK/Potful/Behrouz had consistency issues.

We are still looking for that delicious biryani meal, please share recommendations.

You should definitely try Paradise biriyani. I have visited their main branch in Hyderabad and it was delicious. I hope the Bangalore branch is equally good.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

Hi All,

Are there any other options similar to Rasta Cafe, Mysore Road where one can spend time till early morning? I see Maddur Cafe Coffee day as only other option!
