Is there any good saloon/beauty parlor where we can get a good haircut ?
My elder one got her first haircut at Limelight in Indiranagar. This was many moons ago (2007) though. She had thick curly hair and they did a very decent job. Of course it helped that she sat peacefully through it!

The first year vaccinations were actually that simple for us, without wasting so many tissues

The Conscious Parent - By Dr.Shefali Tsabary

I am looking for a good book on parenting. Has anyone read this book - The Conscious Parent? I have heard great reviews about this book and its rating on Amazon.com is great.

The Conscious Parent - Amazon.in

Any other book on parenting that really helped you?

Thanks for bringing up this book mate! I found one more from the same author

Out of Control

Very good book and really gives an insight on how to handle kids and their needs very well. Bought the kindle edition the moment i saw that it was available! Have completed about 30% of the book and it has been an engaging read and a sea of learning so far!!

Hello Folks,

Does anyone has any suggestion(s) to offer on Strollers/Prams for newborn? The thread on Car Seats for Babies helped me in selecting one but there is no dedicated thread about Strollers/Prams? Can you please share your experiences with the Brand(s)/Model(s) that you are using/used?

Thanks in advance.

We bought a Graco LiteRider from The Baby Shop in Ulsoor (Bangalore) when my daughter was about 6 months old. We used it for the next 3 years. It's been to half a dozen countries and survived some pretty rough usage with no hassles. Features we liked:
  • It can be folded up with one hand and carried
  • Fits into the boot of a Swift (underneath the parcel tray)
  • Stands vertically on its own when folded
  • Basket underneath is pretty strong and can accommodate 5-6 kg of shopping bags etc easily
  • Comes with 3 cupholders - one for baby and two for you!
The only not-so-good feature is the small wheel size and hard "tyres" which make it difficult to navigate uneven surfaces (like cobblestones for example).

Father - Daughter relationship

Guys,

I am a proud father of a baby girl born last year. the last 1 year has been an absolute bliss. Recently while browsing the internet, i came across many articles about the relationship between a father and a daughter and the turn it takes as the daughter grows up being a woman and how a father's behaviour / attitude changes the outlook of a daughter towards life and society in general. (Just google for 'father daughter relationship' and it throws up a lot of articles)

My daughter though only 1yr & 2 months old wants to feed me with a spoon (yes she does this, i am not kidding) and i am the only person in the house who has this privilige.

Request all to share your experiences / views you had with your daughters

Mods :: I could not find any thread on this, so thought of starting a new one.

Regards
Dieseltuned

Re: Parenthood: Sharing the joy, precious moments, learnings and experiences

Last week I finally managed to teach my 6 yr old daughter to ride a bike with the training wheels off. I was surprised by the pride and joy this little achievement of hers gave me!!

The first word my nephew spoke was "Caaaa"!! This was the exact text my sister sent!
"His first word was car ".

He points at cars, car toys/ pictures and goes "Caaa caaa caaa". (
Feeling proud!

I use this. Been using it since my boy was about 3-4 months. Earlier he used to lie down in, but now at 1.5 years, he sits, and will be able to use it for another 2 years, I am sure.
Its folds up like an umbrella, weighs about 5-6 kgs, and has a shoulder strap so can be carried like a golf-bag. Fits in a santro boot too, under a woofer, so , pretty compact. Has been all over india, all the malls, all the restaurants, anywhere the boy has been. Nifty carrier under the seat as well, takes not much, but enough. eg: milk/egg runs with the baby.

I have used pigeon, but I like the 6+/12+ month flavor of Chicco toothpastes. Given all the brouhaha on the food stuff recently, and given some recent stories I've heard about this business, I would strongly advise you to use only an international brand with impeccable credentials like Chicco.
