This happened to me twice after I had spent 2 hours or so on my phone/ipad with no room lights and in early morning hours. Freaked me out so much, that I never did it again and allz well!

Thank You! Coz of your advice i took this with my doc, and she agreed for ultrasound scan.

Today got a call from her on the scan, and she says the left side/underneath jaw salivary gland duct has backed out and this is causing the slight discomfort i feel at times. She says i can live with it, else they can remove the gland making a small cut underneath the chin.

The call is yours. I can't advise on it. An oral surgeon can advise you better.

Wish you a speedy recovery.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

My wife has a problem with consistent headache for the past few days. The pain initially started from the back of the neck and now the head hurts as well. We consulted a doctor who blamed incorrect posture while sitting for work and gave her an anti-inflamtory pain killer. But there is no improvement for the same. Parallely, my wife is improving on her posture.

Could sitting posture be the only problem or should we proceed with second opinion?

Saw this post now. I have been suffering from Tinnitus for the past few years now. Unfortunately, it is going to be permanent with me. I have had consultation from ENT as well.

If God permits, the ear muscle strain or eardrum strain (or whatever is causing the humming noise) will be subdued and the noise will go away. If not, with time you will learn to live with it.

There are no medications or cure for the same the last time I checked.

Thank You.

BTW, i was consulting an ENT Doc. Would this have been better done with a dental surgeon?

Not a dental surgeon but an oral surgeon.

There is a sort of overlap in specialities in this part of the body. But an oral and maxillofacial surgeon is the specialist to do surgeries in this area.

I have a special problem with my wisdom tooth. It's not fully out and every other month, the gums around the area swell up with lots of pain and fever. Is there a solution to this. I do not want to get the wisdom tooth taken out and cavity filled.

4 days back even worse happened and the swelling & pain was such that I could not even open my mouth for eating food. Took 2 Ibuprofen for a day for the pain to subside.

You have to take it out. No point in procrastinating.

It's like having a thorn embedded in you finger. Time to time it will infect you and the medication will help reduce the pain and swelling, but the thorn has to come out sooner or later.

What cavity are you talking about? The cavity left behind by the removal of the tooth? Don't worry, it'll heal on it's own.

Just remember, get an oral & maxillofacial surgeon to remove the wisdom tooth. Check the opposing wisdom tooth, if it's not in the bite, remove that as well so that it doesn't supra-erupt.

My son nearing 6 years of age s due for typhoid vaccination. A friend advises against it saying it only weakens the body, and that it is required only for kids continually exposed to unhygienic food. Expert advice will be appreciated.

Thanks Tejas and car-dent.

When you say that cavity will heal on it's own, would I not have to get it filled every year. If that's the case than . That's the only reason I have been living with it for the last 8-9 years.

Thanks again.

It's not often that I can say, "Yes you are" and get away with it! But I expect you will be glad to know you are wrong on this one.

When you have a tooth out, the gum heals up and, excepting rare complications, in a matter of days you won't notice it any longer.

Not a doc, just a patient who has had plenty of teeth yanked out over the decades.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Need some advice for my 4 yr old son. He has pretty messy teeth (has been that way since they grew up) which looks like eroded enamel. Both his canines are completely hollow and now he's started to complain about aches in his right canine. Yesterday I noticed a small piece of some hard food lodged within gum and canine and pulled it out. I am not sure whether that was causing him pain or the tooth itself.

Any advice? Can young children have issues with tooth decay affecting the nerves and hence the pain?

Yes children do get caries and pain in their deciduous teeth like we adults do in our permanent teeth.

Also google rampant caries if he has too many cavities.

Suggest you visit your paediatric dentist ASAP for treatment and further do's and don'ts. I suggest getting pit and fissure sealants and fluoride treatment as well.
