Kindly do indulge my soaring imagination awhile.

These are the days of multifunction convergence, so:
  • The watch should have GPS to record where I've been -- ideally a GPS speedometer too!
  • It should have a pedometer with accelerometer to monitor footsteps while walking.
  • It should monitor heartrate and calorific burn rate.
  • It should set itself by using an Internet connection over UMTS/GPRS /Wifi to connect to the atomic time-server at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) at Braunschweig, Germany.
  • It should show the time for whichever timezone I select worldwide.
  • It should show incoming mobile caller-id.
  • It could have an MP4 video player -- OK at least an MP3 player?
Hell, it should just provide an API so that I can program whatever functions I want, myself.

Know a watch which comes remotely close to this ideal device? I'd be all ears, eyes, billfold...

Cheers...

Thanks for the suggestion, BikerSG.
With your input, I started looking again and guess what I found?

The Garmin Forerunner 405 is a GPS-enabled sports-cardiac watch.

Which watch do you own?-garminforerunner405.jpg

It tracks distance, pace, heart rate and calories.
It has a touch bezel to switch displays without fumbling for buttons.

Indoors, you can turn off the GPS and with an optional foot pod (pedometer), you can track your workout.

It comes with a USB interface to wirelessly transfer workouts to your computer.

I'm not sure if this one does it, but it is trivially easy to implement automatically setting the time on the watch from atomic-precision GPS satellite data.

But...
it does not have an MP3 or MP4 video player and does not display mobile caller-id.

@bottle... I have the exact same Giordano. Its one of my fav, very very sophisticated but the leather strap is ridiculous quality. Mine is "scrubbed" the same way as your's is. :-D
