Nostalgic, I remember getting one for my son in '97 from Riyadh on my first vacation, he was in 9th std, over the moon.

If I remember correctly, I must have paid about SAR 20 then.

I have the F91W for the last 2 years or so. At the price of a coffee and sandwich, it is a steal, considering the model has almost got a cult / classic status. Keeps time well, battery is supposed to last long and has all the basic functions you need. Nothing extraneous. Simply Brilliant!

+1 to Barton straps. I use their silicone straps on multiple watches and they are of very good quality and reasonably priced.

Have they restarted normal USPS delivery to India. I had bought one of their watch bands but then they shifted to fedex or dhl and the pricing was not worth it anymore.

Oh is it? I was not aware of that. The earlier shipping used to be 2-3 dollars to India, and was totally worth it. I have not made a purchase from them in the last few years though, so not aware of the shipping currently. Fedex and DHL will definitely be way more expensive than USPS shipping.

Re: Modifying my wristwatch!

Ah, fellow watch enthusiasts on a car forum. Why oh why am I not surprised?

Not particularly into modding my watches (this is the first I've heard of it really), but I am fond of watches. Smartphones may have replaced them for a lot of people but as far as I'm concerned, a good wristwatch remains a must have accessory in a gentleman's suite.

Being a sailor, I need my watch to be as tough as my working conditions hence, no surprise, a Casio G-Shock Mudman G-9300. It's got solar charging, works perfectly and I won't be surprised if it outlasts me.

The other watch I own reserved for "special" occasions is an HMT Pilot which used to belong to my grandfather, then my father, my elder brother after him and now myself. I've only polished it and had it's worn-out strap replaced by my nearby Titan showroom- I believe the classy black leather with white stitching suits it just right. I wind it, set the time and wear it with immense pride, often too, I must say.

Re: Modifying my wristwatch!

Happy to see many horology enthusiasts on the forum. I follow quite a few watch channels on YouTube. Seems the most modded watch these days is the Casio Royal Oak (GA2100) apart from the evergreen SKX. Just have a look at the TGV video below and I am sure you would be drooling to get an AP homage (if I may call it) at a fraction of the cost. The best part is that the GA2100 costs almost the same in India as in Dubai and other countries. Planning to buy one for mods but with Alibaba.com under the govt radar, not sure where I can buy the mods from.

Hey Lambro, dig the Seiko Pepsi. I’ve been looking to get one for myself but I can only find the Seiko 5 Pepsi which doesn’t come with the Jubilee style strap. Does the SKX Pepsi come with this strap you have in the pic or is it a mod? Also where can I buy it in India?

Re: Which watch do you own?

Sharing an old purchase.
Scuderia Ferrari purchased on Dec 2019. Model No. : 840005

Pictures clicked on 19-Jan-2020 , held up pretty well despite my usage being on the rougher side.

Highly doubt that you can get the SKX in India. Your best bet would be to get it in the USA and have it carried down with someone. Even in the USA, it is not easy to get it now since I believe Seiko has stopped producing this altogether. Even if you manage to get hold of one, it is overpriced now and really not worth the asking price today.

A much better alternative would be to purchase a watch from the Islander series (check out www.longislandwatch.com) which is a series of watches based on the SKX series but produced in house by Marc Frankel of Long Island Watches in the USA. These can be considered SKX ++ models since they have a lot of improvements which the SKX series sorely lacked, including better movements, bracelets, crystals, bezels etc. Overall, these Islander series watches are fantastic buys for the money. If you can get someone to carry it down from the USA for you, nothing like it.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Just out of curiosity, picked up a Casio Retro Digital Watch (Model: A159WA-N1DF) for a throwaway price. Looks nice!
