Re: Spooky Experiences : Share them here

This was an experience shared by a friend although I travel the same route everyday and have done so in odd hours as well in the past and not experienced anything.
The location is the stretch of road alongside Kalpalli cemetery along the railway line between Bangalore East and Byappanahalli stations.
My friend was returning after work in a cab when the driver stopped right beside the cemetery wall to relieve himself. There were no streetlights apart from one a distance away. The driver was behind the car when my friend noticed a vague dark figure move from the railway line side towards the cemetery and before he could focus, it vanished. He was quite sure of what he saw and confirmed it wasn't a shadow or dust being blown. I don't believe in stuff like this and I rubbished it although I've heard stories from the same place.
The next day another friend who I told this, googled it and got a few links which had mentioned similar or same sightings by others and surprise, kalpalli cemetery was on top of the list of the ten most haunted spots in Bangalore.

It is natural to be stigmatized amongst other academics.
I get your point completely. However in this era, there are best sellers created out of nothingness of the universe. There are many many people who have sold thousands of books on afterlife and aliens. It is not quite true that the society as a whole looks at these studies with suspicion. Some sections, I agree.
Hello once again Raj,
That is just the point - there are so many people writing so many books on so many subjects that the average, middle-of-the-road, human being finds it impossible to decide what to pursue and what to ignore. And coming to a field as amorphous and as grey as the paranormal, it is a futile exercise trying to distinguish the signal from the noise! That is why I find it best to live & let live - without trying to convince & convert another to one's own point of view and vice versa. The debates & contradictions are endless & beyond reconciliation and have always been so!

Re: Spooky Experiences : Share them here

There are definitely some paranormal activities which can't be explained by science or logic. Till date, I have been against all such experiences, but one incident happened with me in 2012 which shook me up a bit.

My late-grandfather was diagnosed with blood cancer. It was January 2012 when this was diagnosed. My family didn't tell me about this, and all behaved perfectly normal. On March 2nd, he was admitted to a hospital due to his deteriorating health. As usual, I was at my hostel absolutely clueless about these things.

On 8th March, I woke up to a very bad dream that my grandfather is going to die and all, and is in a very painful state. This was in the morning, at about 6AM. I ignored it as a bad dream, and forgot it. That day, while going to the bathroom at about 6PM in the eveing, I felt someone is calling my name in a familiar voice. I did turn back, but the corridor was absolutely deserted.
When I was almost done with my bath, I felt someone is standing beside me in the bathroom, and it felt like my grandfather was behind me.

I immediately called my mom that I have been getting such weird thoughts since morning, and whether everything is good at their end or not. I literally froze when my mom informed me that Grandfather passed away that day at 11AM in the morning.

This is one incident which convinced me that our universe works in a strange way indeed!!!

As Einstein was said to have famously remarked - "The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is so comprehensible!"

Re: Spooky Experiences : Share them here

I used to go to my cousins house in the village for vacations. This was when I was about 17 or so. In that village, some years prior to this incident which I am about to narrate, about 7 children between the ages of 6-15 were burned alive in a cave they had dug and stuffed with hay to keep warm caught fire and all 7 of them were burned alive. Now, to get to this village, you have to pass through a paddy field and the road had many "culverts" (dont know another name). This time being winter, there was no water and the moon was fairly bright. It was around 11 pm by the time we left the town and we were in a jolly mood (no alcohol or drugs involved). During that time, since it was school time, there was a curfew announced for the school going children not to be outside without escorts (parents etc). So as we were chatting and walking briskly, we could hear voices of children talking behind us. We turned to look but we could not see anyone. We soon forgot about it and continued. After a while, we could see 7 children's silhouette in the moonlight and also the murmur of the children's voices. We didnt bother much and went on our ways. I told my cousin we should report them to the authorities for breaking curfew. My cousin had a better idea - punish them ourselves. So we walked faster to catch them. When we were less than 10 feet sawy from them, we could not see them again. We could not hear them again. We looked left side of the road, right side of the road, under the culvert. No where to be found. Disappeared completely. When we got back on the road, we could see them behind us, silhouettes again, holding hands and the sound of murmuring. Needless to say, the next 1.5 kms was done in record breaking Hussain Bolt's style. Never been that scared in life.

I too have dream about meeting my loved ones in my dreams. The dream is so realistic, like, holding their hand, a hug, etc that I almost believe it is real.

I don't think there is anything spooky about my dream, its your mind playing tricks, nothing else. I have these dream if some how someone mentions about them or I think about them before I go to sleep.

Although they left us, they are still in my memory, which could explain, meeting with them in my dream.

On another note, is it only us, humans, that have soul and turn in to ghosts. What about other animals, then. This question is for those who believe in ghosts.

Hello friend.

The location you are referring to is indeed spooky. If I am not wrong, it is the stretch on Bypass road (which goes from Badarpur border and joins Mathura Road towards Palwal) alongside the residential locality of Sector 8. There is a graveyard and a cremation ground on that stretch, which starts from Delhi Chicken Point onwards.

Let me narrate a first-hand incident that happened in January 2016. I was going through the spooky incident thread and realised that this incident happened at almost the same spot. I frequently travel on that stretch as our factory is located nearby. There was a bridge construction going on at that time, which was supposed to be constructed in the space between the graveyard and cremation ground. Perfect recipe for terror, na? From the little knowledge I have of this bridge-construction thingy, I understood that the centre portion was complete and one side (which was not spooky, used by villagers) was almost done. The other side was a broken stretch where locals were managing to cross by putting huge rocks at required places. I was among the first ones to take a car through that stretch (as it reduced 6 kms from my travel) but I used to be very careful because I drive a Verna which comes with a remarkable ground clearance. That day I was returning from the factory and the clock was about to hit 9 (at night). Roads in that area, which are used mainly by local villagers, see minimal traffic post 7 PM. So I use high beams. I had to take a right turn to enter into that bridge (from the proper constructed side) and was doing around 30 kmph. I was cruising and following what the beams of my headlight (during the turn) were illuminating. There were zero street lights (or any sort of light for that matter) on that stretch.

Bang in the middle of the road, I see a Vadilal ice cream stall at the point where the cemented section ended (and one could see cremation ground on the left clearly). As I inched forward, I saw the ice cream seller lying face-down on the road on the right side of the stall. Strangely, his arms and legs were stretched apart as if he had had a great fall from some place. The stall had a faint CFL-type light which was illuminating a few feet extra on each side. No, the person wasn't dressed in white. He wore a blue-red dress similar to what Domino's delivery boys wear. I decided to cross from the left side as I didn't want to run over the man/whatever that was. I stopped at the side to take a look and see if it was a murder/theft case. I checked my right ORVM and the man was nowhere to be found. Only the ice cream stall was visible in the image. I turned back and then looked around. Suddenly the place from where I used to travel at weird hours had started to look haunted. I was well aware of the fact that villagers did not use this stretch after sunset, but this was too much.

The hair on my arms rose thinking of the graveyard and cremation ground (at a stone's throw from there) and without wasting a second, I rushed from there. I remember hitting the underbelly quite a few times that night. I was drenched in sweat when I reached home and couldn't sleep properly. To this day, sight of any Vadilal stall on a deserted road sends chills down my spine.

By the way, I have a lot more incidents to share as I used to live in a spooky colony in my childhood. I had an uncle who was chased by a genie (did I spell that right?) in his terrace, reports of a witch in my locality, a neighbour who was choked twice by a child's shadow at night and another neighbour who encountered two ghosts at night while returning from work. Let me know which incident you guys want to read first. Some of my friends say that I am good at narrating spooky incidents. Though I haven't experienced these incidents personally, I will try my best to put it in writing.

I had a very similar dream. It was about a year after my grandmother passed away. In the dream my grandmother just walked into the living room where everyone in my family were present. We all made her sit, gave her water, talked to her and the she got up and left. That was a very spooky dream because the setup of the room was exactly how it was the day she passed away. I'm convinced it is the mind bringing up memories and trying to visualise a better scenario.

Spooky Experiences : Share them here

In 1983, a team of deeply pious scientists conducted a radical experiment in an undisclosed facility. The scientists had theorized that a human without access to any senses or ways to perceive stimuli would be able to perceive the presence of God.

They believed that the five senses clouded our awareness of eternity, and without them, a human could actually establish contact with God by thought. An elderly man who claimed to have "nothing left to live for" was the only test subject to volunteer. To purge him of all his senses, the scientists performed a complex operation in which every sensory nerve connection to the brain was surgically severed.* Although the test subject retained full muscular function, he could not see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. With no possible way to communicate with or even sense the outside world, he was alone with his thoughts.

Scientists monitored him as he spoke aloud about his state of mind in jumbled, slurred sentences that he couldn't even hear. After four days, the man claimed to be hearing hushed, unintelligible voices in his head. Assuming it was an onset of psychosis, the scientists paid little attention to the man's concerns.

Two days later, the man cried that he could hear his dead wife speaking with him, and even more, he could communicate back. The scientists were intrigued, but were not convinced until the subject started naming dead relatives of the scientists. He repeated personal information to the scientists that only their dead spouses and parents would have known. At this point, a sizable portion of scientists left the study.

After a week of conversing with the deceased through his thoughts, the subject became distressed, saying the voices were overwhelming. In every waking moment, his consciousness was bombarded by hundreds of voices that refused to leave him alone. He frequently threw himself against the wall, trying to elicit a pain response. He begged the scientists for sedatives, so he could escape the voices by sleeping. This tactic worked for three days, until he started having severe night terrors. The subject repeatedly said that he could see and hear the deceased in his dreams.

Only a day later, the subject began to scream and claw at his non-functional eyes, hoping to sense something in the physical world. The hysterical subject now said the voices of the dead were deafening and hostile, speaking of hell and the end of the world. At one point, he yelled "No heaven, no forgiveness" for five hours straight. He continually begged to be killed, but the scientists were convinced that he was close to establishing contact with God.

After another day, the subject could no longer form coherent sentences. Seemingly mad, he started to bite off chunks of flesh from his arm. The scientists rushed into the test chamber and restrained him to a table so he could not kill himself. After a few hours of being tied down, the subject halted his struggling and screaming. He stared blankly at the ceiling as teardrops silently streaked across his face. For two weeks, the subject had to be manually rehydrated due to the constant crying. Eventually, he turned his head and, despite his blindness, made focused eye contact with a scientist for the first time in the study.

He whispered "I have spoken with God, and He has abandoned us" and his vital signs stopped.

There was no apparent cause of death.

Yes, I do believe in ghosts or call them what you will. And I agree - there is nothing spooky about these dreams. In the parlance they are often referred to as 'lucid' dreams by psychiatrists.
And as for animals seeing ghosts or not, its difficult to say. We are dedicated dog lovers at home, having had boxers over the past 19 years. I don't know if this behavior is confined to
boxers only, but both our males (may Darth, the earlier one, rest in peace!, as well as Kluso, our current grunt) had/has the habit, at various times, of staring fixedly into the space behind the door in our spare bathroom. Kluso occasionally will go to the extent of getting raised hackles & growling gently! Obviously, we - the family members - cant see anything at all and neither can any of the other members of the household.

How could they disconnect skin from brain?
How was he able to speak (in whatever Jumbled, Slurred etc) when his five senses(Speech or taste, Ears, Eyes, touch OR Skin, Smell OR nose) are disconnected from brain?

Specifically, when Tongue is disconnected, how can brain send signals to Tongue to talk?

Re: Spooky Experiences : Share them here

It's been a long time since someone has posted on this thread so I will break the silence. Not experienced anything personally, but narrating an incident I read somewhere.

- The old Mumbai-Pune highway has been a very popular place both on and off this thread. There have been several cases of ghost sightings here. One that caught my fancy was a man on the scooter incident. This man was transversing down the highway at night when he gave a lift to a woman. He then dropped her off and continued but spotted her yet again. This continued for a while until he realised what was happening and stopped helping her. This is when he realised that the women was running parallel to his scooter. He got distracted and blanked out. The next morning, he was found at a roadside dhaba with both his arms and probably a leg broken.

My questions to experts:

- What was the motive of this ghost? Clearly he (the man) could have died but he didn't.

- Could she be someone who had committed suicide and wants to seek revenge or something? But again, why?

- Why can only certain people at certain times see her and not everyone?

The answer to this is the answer to all spooky experiences. She is a figment of some people's imagination. Obviously, not everybody will see her.
