I dont think banning him will solve this issue, since he can still access the site as a non registered user. I think the point we need to bring home with this chap (19 years of age) is that piracy/plaguerism is nothing but theft. And to copy it word to word without any modification and or value addition without qouting/crediting the author, is same as stealing. He is young and has a long way to go to learn these things. I am sure he is enjoying his short stint in fame by pasting our reviews, but that fame is short lived as such kind of malpractices dont take you far!

hey hey guys!!!
i would like to pen down my opinions but would like to keep it as impersonal as possible
* aren't we overdoing this a bit!! agreed this guys has copied something (something which most of people do, coz as it pros we are always using some tech that had been another original idea, ok im not going there) and not given credit to the original (now that's something that he'd rather be ashamed of)
* i would say, by now if the guy is reading any of this, he would not be having the b**** to copy any other material. but even then you never know, maybe he's got b**** made of steel..
* the person who has done this should indeed be banned, it atleast settles one thing that we won't take things for granted lying down.
my 2 cents!!!

Team,

Thank you so much for the support. I have already brought it to the notice of MouthShut, and will await to hear from them regarding the same.

I am just so extremely angry at someone taking credit for Team-BHP reviews.

Actually I have come across many reviews in Mouthshut.com which I have also seen in TeamBHP. Those times I thought it was the same person posting on Mouthshut using a different ID. It never occurred to me that somebody could be stealing from team-BHP.

You wouldn't understand unless you have been in the receiving end.

About 14 years back I worked in a small software product company where I had developed many software utilities. One of my colleague/friend (he had just resigned from the job) who was also my former classmate asked for copies of my source code so that he can study it. Couple of months later I visited his new work place and I was shocked to find everybody using my software in that company, and they were not our customers. The most outrageous thing was that he had replaced the company name with his own, every program screen on the bottom said Developed by <His Name>. You should have seen his face when he found me staring at this abomination. Needless to say I have never ever, ever trusted him, ever.

Here is the list of all his exploits. We can hunt down each of his reviews and comment on it as to where it was stolen from... http://www.mouthshut.com/user/pulsarian/1.html

i 've been on the receiving end!!! but it's just that i've let it rest as it is! well my case was not as huge as this one but none the less.
but hey guys, i'm not trying to play spoilsport here.
this kind of plagiarism shouldn't be allowed anywhere for that matter. and sorry that you had to have it through a friend (whom you trusted)... it basically erodes the faith in people...
what i had been trying to say was that; come what may, people how thrive on these means will always be!! and the best thing for us to do is to keep them away from us or keep away from them. for now, we ban him and put a notion that this kind of behaviour does not deem fit for a reputed forum!!!
just imagine if this has happened to our forum (the other way around), people would question the credibility of our own writings!!
so samurai!!! hope my previous post hasn't hurt you (it was not meant to), but i apologize if it has.

Subject: Reporting copyright violation

I would like to bring to your notice a person who is violating copyrights shamelessly, not just in one post but all posts. Here is a link to the discussion going on in a community for auto enthusiasts. (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/showth...0&page=2&pp=15)

This person is under the ID "Pulsarian" and here are some of his violations ...
1.
original post : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2985 in 25 feb 2004

copied post: http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Skoda_Octavia_(Petrol)-82363-1.html on 8/9/2004

The above 2 thanks to GTO from team-bhp who has made these two observations in his initial post that kicked off this debate and unearthed this cheater.

Another one pointed out by F 50 of team-bhp

I do not want to spend more time in showing that all his posts are copied from team-bhp and possibly other sites (non automobile comments).

There are so many who have naturally appreciated him, which really goes about telling the fact that the originals were truly well written and they deserve a mention atleast. This user has skillfully edited the post in order to change a few proper nouns (locations/ names of service stations etc).

Please take action against this user, its really sad to see such things going on in mouthshut. I have a strong trust in all the reviews till such a thing happened. I am really sad to see such people spoling the true fun of creativity and originality.

Hope you treat this seriously and take action (ban) the user and prevent him from opening any other account.

Thanks

It has happened in this forum, you are not aware because you are new here. But the members in forum are too well informed about cars, almost impossible to fool this collective. There was this girl couple of months back who claimed a car photo as taken by her dad. Members found that photo to be from Brazil within a day.

Damn, it is absolutely sickening. I thought it was very logical that we are required to to give the source of info that we post on team-bhp. But i never imagined that info from team-bhp would be plaigiarised in such a disgusing way.

Good work raihan and gchandra. The guy is probably hiding his head in shame.

Mods, isn't there a way in which you can prevent reveiws from being highlighted and consequently being copied. Mouthshut has done the same thing for their reviews.
