What a partnership between Ryder and Taylor. Sure Taylor rode his luck, but they attacked from the word go, and Indians were left clueless in the field.

Damn i was busy and forgot today is the match day
Am really impressed with Ryder. back to back centuries is quiet good form.
Also NZ scoring rate is good for the day.

More apt question is who would have opened with Sehwag if Sachin didn't get his 43rd ODI hundred.
Well if Sachin can get back to his 90's form Ponting cant even touch him anywhere

Btw why isn't dhoni playing today? Any injury?

Any one saw Munaf Patel's fielding today ??? Jeffrey's mom can be a better fielder any day... Guess what does this guy think when ho approaches a ball near the boundary ... I think Yuvi dropped a sitter in the slip .. ( saw the highlight towards end .. Think that was Yuvi ). Saw around 5-7 overs in the morning and got an impression that the field setting was very defensive ...

I am sure he has time Tendulkar slams retirement talk - I will continue as long as I enjoy: Sachin

I'm wondering how India gets this amazing talent of going from thrashing the opponent in one game and then getting slammed all over the field the next!
It's very unique!
I however sincerely hope tomorrow will be a better batting day for the Indians especially Sachin. It'll be pathetic if we end up following on.

Had we lost only 1 wicket . Atleast we would have felt better starting tomorrow. 3 down and 540 runs behind is a huge huge task ahead. Also not much batting left apart from these two only Laxman and Yuvi. Im not too optimistic about this match.

2nd test India Vs new zealand 4th day after Tea

Rahul dravid done in by a blunder by the umpire after standing rock solid like a wall for almost 2 sessions. The first 2 sessions have belonged to india but might be a little short on the scoring part.

Good news is sachin seems to be in a positve frame of mind with runs flowing off his bat and gambhir playing the watch and leave game.

The shore is still distant but is sure getting interesting.

NZ was not able to make any breakthrough for the entire day, but umpire gifted them with Dravid's wicket. Sachin looks good with his 58 & Gambhir at 102. Sachin really did well scoring runs quickly to wipe off the NZ lead to the maximum extent possible. I like the patience game by Gambhir spending so much time on crease & the first hour tomorrow will decide the fate of this match. We need to continue looking for runs in a safer manner to ensure that we draw this test

Given the current form of both these players, its bit difficult for ponting to catch Tendulkar.

In the last two year Sachin has played 23 tests, 2 test matches in addition to ponting's 21 tests, but have scored 2028 runs, 436 runs extra than ponting's 1592 runs. Also Sachin has scored seven centuries in the last two years, 3 centuries inaddition to Ponting's 4 (33-37)

Edit: Another interesting fact is that Ponting has got two very good seasons where he has scored 15 centuries in 23 matches (02-03 & 05-06). If he got one like that, chances are there he will get past Sachin's tally of no.of centuries (link)

Agree with you Surprise. We need to bat upto lunch with run rate of atleast 3.5-4 per over. So far so good it looks all well for India for a draw unless our batting collapses in the middle.

Well it seems that we did manage to save the test! Good work by all especially by Gambhir, Laxman, Dravid and Tendulkar. I honestly did not think would survive

I knew all along that it would be a draw, but was expecting rain to help us.
Very well played under pressure.

On the eve of exciting Final test , this is what the chairman of selectors NZ team had to say about Indian team:-

Cricinfo - India still lack consistency - Turner

1st rectify your own team you loser!
