Yes he was trying desperately hard to try to fit himself to that format of the game but ultimately succumbed. Considering it was his last T-20 match Dravids efforts are worth commending.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Did anybody read this - Outrage over Nasser Hussain's 'donkey shocker' - The Times of India . The English are taking this mental disintegration thing a bit too far !
I hope some of our players read this & get motivated.

"Donkeys in the field" is quite commonly used for fielders slow in the field, can't understand all the fuss.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Yet another loss in this tour ! The bowling options are pathetic for us !!! Vinay Kumar - SERIOUSLY???? Dhoni might be forced to play with 6 batsmen 5 bowlers option if he wants to try winning on this tour ! Bring in Varun Aaron /Vinay and RP . There are not many options left !!!
Ashwin too has been bowling too much on the middle and leg side and getting predictable with his line. I think with current England batting ( without Morgan , Trott etc. ) we can have a chance winning IF we bowl decently !! Hope to see atleast a 2-2 in this series !

Finally we did it ! We did not loose, but we did not win either.

I think we just got out of jail today.
And what an enigma Munaf Patel is! Did anybody notice that he managed to touch 140 km/hr today.

Re: The Cricket Thread

After being likened to DONKEYS, its only apt that Swann went ahead and dedicated their ODI victory to a local Zoo. Laughing stocks - fitting way to end a terrible tour.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Wait till Mr Swann comes to India and our batsmen get going on our pitches. He will be applying to the same zoo as a Zoo Keeper.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I really admire how the Indian team has fought back in the ODIs after the crushing defeats in the tests. Even though we lost the series, I am quite glad for the turnaround.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Way to go Rahul.

2 of the best he has played in 50 overs cricket that spring to my mind immediately are
1. his blistering 145 at Taunton against SL in th 1999 WC(the scorecard read 324/2 after he got out in the 43rd over) 21st Match: India v Sri Lanka at Taunton, May 26, 1999 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo,
2. His backlash against Alan Donald in SA after Sachin got out 6th Match: South Africa v India at Port Elizabeth, Feb 2, 1997 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo.

I think he is a smart cricketer, sure he will be tonked around by the junior guys, but I think he is still better than bhajji in the present circumstances.

Past expiry date ?

He needs some real motivation. His father's death and subsequently having to fend for his family got him motivated last time around. This time he is too rich, wonder what could be a motivating factor for him.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I think what he needs first a kick on his backside !

He has become too complacent since he was never dropped inspite of being terribly out of form for eternity.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What Bhajji needs is competition in the team? I'm sure when his place is on the line, he will buck up. Ashwin looks promising, but needs to be more consistent, and needs to perfect his carom-ball delivery.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I am quite liking the CLt20 matches. Almost every match is competitive. Good for the game.
