Re: The Cricket Thread

I'd like for us to win the next one and be the joint record holders for the most consecutive T20I series victories. We are at 10 and the record belongs to Pakistan at 11.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I liked the last game. It gave the Indian team some much needed pressure scenario to go for runs. We did okay too, wasn't overly disappointed with the result.

It's a bit worrying that Dhawan seems to have no answers to a swinging ball. It's either hit out or get out. I like the look of Vijay Shankar's batting, his bowling looks useless though.

Meanwhile this news.

Unless we get rid of this kind of rot and many others, we will not get to see true potential coming out to the national team.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Did anyone see Ashok Dinda getting hit flush on his face during Bengal's practice game yesterday? It was of a straight drive by the batsman off his bowling. It seems he also bowled a couple of balls after the hit but was sent to the hospitals to make sure everything was ok. Doctors have told there is nothing to worry-All is well that ends well. There is the video of that in the below link and it looks scary.

Re: The Cricket Thread

This looks like more or less the squad which will go into the World Cup 2019.

Dinesh Karthik & Jadeja seemed to have missed the bus!
Shankar is a big call incase Hardik gets injured.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Surprised there is no post here on the SL V SA 1st test match. I didn't watch it live but Kushal Perera and Vishwa Fernando added 78 runs for the 10th wicket (Vishwa Fernando scoring only 2+4 overthrows) to win against the Hosts in Kingsmead.
Kushal perera did it single handedly ending up with 153* off 200 deliveries! Wonderful test match! It's always good to see underdogs outplay the favorites.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Sri Lanka is really rocking in SA. I am still kicking myself for missing the first test match. I was following it till SL lost the 8th wicket and then I switched off.

SA = 73/4 at Day 1 lunch in the second match.

As per Reports today in Times of India, BCCI are trying to find a way to ban Pakistan from participating in the World Cup.

It was stupid to even think that they would be able to pull this off. The most they can do is to refuse to play them in the league stage. But then what happens if both are scheduled to meet again in the SF / Finals.

Unable to watch the match, is Sri Lanka playing out of its skin or have SA taken them very lightly?!
Also, missed Gayle's 100 yesterday, England chased down 360 odd.

BCCI & COA can't even have its own house in order & they are talking of finding a way to ban a country from a World Cup! Snippets from their emergency meeting should be interesting.

They can pull it off if they want to. All they need to tell the ICC is that we will not participate if Pakistan participates. Without Indian sponsors the WC will be a massive loss making venture. ICC will be left with an easy decision to make.

But the COA is full of incompetent buffoons. Srinivasan would have made it happen.

.
Good swing bowling by SL and SA batting is anyway brittle. And I watched Chris Gayle yesterday when he raced from 60-100 but switched off after that.
England is in awesome ODI form. Add Joffra Archer to that side and they might just win the cup unbeaten.

It is not as easy to pull out of a world cup. There are legal repercussions, and even the financial might of the Indian Rupee may not be able to help there.

Srini would have done whatever benefited him financially. He was definitely not a patriotic saint.
