Haaahaaahaa. Speak of Confidence of BBMP

Opp to Auchan(SPAAR) supermarket on the BG road there was a big pothole last week, these guys filled it to a height so that only buses can go over it. It becomes dangerous when the road is dry because the stones get displaced all over the place to make it very difficult for two-wheelers and 4 wheelers needs to be extra cautious when they are behind the two-wheelers.
Just as you cross the Sagar Apollo Hospital signal, there is a major group of potholes. I guess this is the one you are referring to. I went on that stretch on Monday and saw that it was filled with mud and stone chips, which washed away due to rains and now is in more dangerous condition !! One the signal turned green, vehicles were moving at snail's pace. I was wondering what's wrong since I could see that the road was free ahead. Then, just as I crossed the signal and wanted to weave out of the traffic, I had to brake hard and negotiate those mud and stone chips !! Disgusting condition.

Ouch, that pothole is still there !! I had been on that stretch on Monday last week and got it as a shocker as I was speeding up the flyover ramp !! Its one of the busiest roads in the IT corridor and is of grave danger to 2 wheelers, not to mention 4 and 6 wheelers also !!!

Pothole Update :

New pothole spotted in the ramp down double road flyover towards residency road.

Beware of 2 wheelers spotting them in the last minute and cutting across to avoid. Its a down ramp so a good chance of hitting a 2 wheeler as you would have no time to brake.

Looks like the potholes are becoming the new landmarks in Bangalore. All the recent talk on this thread has been mainly on the potholes alone!

Potholes on Road towards kaudgodi which meets NH is horrible. Potholes as big as a park, you can sit in those and cook a meal without someone noticing. All vehicles meander around them like a scared pup.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Looks like Bangalore's roads and people are getting worse day by day. I somehow got out of a big trouble day before yesterday.

I was travelling in MCECHS layout (near Thanisandra/Nagavara junction). There were three to four tractors carrying Ganesha idol to immerse in a lake nearby (Hebbal lake probably). I somehow overtook the first two tractors, and was about the overtake the other one when one guy in the tractor started brandishing a big wooden log at me. I just neglected him and was concentrating on overtaking the last tractor, and suddenly I heard a loud thud. He actually threw the wooden log at the car. Had I not rolled up the windows, it would have definitely hit the right side of my shoulder and head.

Luckily for me no damage was done. The glass in intact. I was a bit shaken up by the incident, and somehow managed to overtake the vehicle. I saw a Hoysala police van escorting these tractors. I informed the cop on duty about the incident, and he was not even bothered. He just asked to me drive and go home.

The worst part is that these tractors did not even have a license plate. So I cannot even lodge an official police complaint.

To add to these woes, Thanisandra main road and the road in MCECHS Layout is supposed to be 2+2 lanes, but there are always vehicles parked on one lane. So we actually get to use 1+1 lane.

Yes, this is the one I was talking about. Now its back to the old shape and we can expect BBMP to fill it with another truck load of stones.

There is a similar one on gottigere - NICE road stretch as well.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Due to a medical condition on my lower back, I have to travel from Cox Town to Chikkanayakana Halli Village deep inside Sarjapur Road. The one and only smooth stretch of road is probably the half a km section after EGL to Ejipura signal. For the rest of the distance, I have to hold my breath each time the car goes over a pot hole. If its not a pot hole, there is a massive pool of water occupying 95% of the road. I've been living in this city for a good 8 years now and never has it been so bad.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The best joke was BTP's message on FB yesterday about slow moving traffic on some of the roads due to pot-holes & asking people to take 'alternate road'...
As if we have alternate roads, that too well built & pot-hole free

To be fair BTP are trying their best. I see policemen at various chokepoints due to rains. It's BBMP who should be taken to task

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Why the roads are clogged

The sweeper in this photo swept the road and stuffed the dirt into the drain (marked in red). So during rains, water has nowhere to go.

Fully agree! BBMP collects taxes (highest in the country) & makes substandard roads without proper drainage...

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

More pothole talk
There are some huge craters on the Old Madras Road stretch between BMTC Bus depot and 80 feet Road junction. Similar situation on 100 feet Road especially near 13th Main/ECA. With rains pounding away almost every evening, it's bound to get worse
Watch out for vehicles that suddenly veer to one side at these places near the potholes.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Beat this. Two potholes on NICE road

Its between Bannerghatta and Hosur road just half a km before the EC toll booth. Its in the left lane. I occasionally travel in this stretch but was shocked to see. There are lot of undulations in this stretch. I hope they'll cover it within two days.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Forty five days more to perhaps some relief to the misery: It seems the home minister had a meeting with senior officials of the various departments like BTP, BBMP, BWSSB, KSRTC, BMTC, BMRCL, etc to discuss urgent strategies to prevent congestion on city roads. BBMP has been given a deadline of 45 days to fill up all potholes and re asphalt broken roads.

Read news article here: http://www.deccanherald.com/content/...-deadline.html
and here: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/22558992.cms
courtesy deccan chronicle and Times of India.

As per the reports, some plan is underway to add an extra loop to the KR Puram flyover to enable easy movement of traffic on ORR. This is perhaps most needed and hope they take it up and start work ASAP.

L&T makes the best roads in India.
I hate this Navayuga Construction company. The road to BIAL and back is absolutely ridiculous.

The first photo here is at Sukh Sagar junction Koramangala where the Nova Clinic billboard beautifully obscures the traffic light.

The other pics were taken on Thursday night Friday morning at about 330 am when I was returning to town from BIAL after having just arrived.
The roads were choked, flooded and almost completely broken. Not a single stretch had any quality lighting on it and it was a positively dangerous ride back home.
At this rate all of us tax paying road users will perish on these roads and there wont be anyone left to pay taxes which the filthy Karnataka politicos can pocket. This is the single worst state in this country in terms of corruption and inefficiency.
All that Bangalore has, going for it, is its weather. Nothing else.
