Hmm I do agree with you on the fact that there are definately more vintage mercs around than BMWs. No doubt.

My car aside, I guess people I know have been quite lucky. A close family friend in Australia is an avid car collector, with over 60 to his name, vintage and modern. He claims that his 86 and 93, 5 Series and his 84 7 series are amongst the most reliable in his garage. Of course, he also has a few BMWs which give him nightmares, parts are harder to source than for a Mercedes. [Jags are the worst]

I guess it's a case to case basis...I'd hate to generalise.

cheers:

You gotta love old BMWs, so much charm, class and charisma...

Sure Doc...they are really built to be driven....hard. The new ones are not that great to be a passenger in as the older ones. Those were sporty yet the ride was good for any surface (3's,5's & 7's). Models designed in the periods 1979 through 1988 were great cars....I still love mercs, being in India as a kid meant that you are brainwashed to love mercs...cheers...for me nothing beats looking at the three pointed star on the hood whilst driving...new mercs don't look as great as the old ones.

Note from the Team-BHP Support : Please take the time to use proper punctuation as per Team-BHP rules. Avoid...typing...like...this. Thanks.

i hope it reaches right hands before that

mercs of this period happen to be my favorite

the latest mercs (i mean the E class) dont have this appeal, the new s and c class are much better then the mercs of period 1996-2005
AMATMO: yes, Sir. They were far more stately.

Hey, is this the real deal or is it a kit car like the red one in Mumbai?
Nice find though.
