I can't stand the Geisha-esque lights and the skewed grille dipped-in-soya-sauce. The older BMWs held more grace and finesse IMO. With the power and engineering lurking beneath their skins, it's a shame their stylists think they need to try so hard.

Hope I'm not treading on any ball bearings.

Coudnt help laughing on this one!!! Im with you, Except for the M5 and M3. I think these are the only two good looking BMWs in the market!!

Mad copywriters, that's the malaise .

BTW I set my sights on a circa-1989-90 750i I saw in Bombay in 1991. I bet the rich owner wants to, has to, needs to move on to better things and has been advised by his/her Guru that it's good Vaastu to dump it on a Poor Copywriter.

You tell 'em, Netchef! I hated Bangled designs when I first saw them, and I hate them now. The E39 M5 design is just so much more classier, well-proportioned and timeless. My pick over an E60 M5 any day, any time.

Gorgeous, Sir. And timeless, I agree. I wonder if it's conditioning: I come from a previous era, another generation, so form and lines would probably have been influenced by whatever had currency then, subliminally even. It's a bit like the Bangalore traffic and how the situation is viewed by kids, who- because they've not seen vastly different, aren't as fazed by the turmoil. Case of 'pond' reality?

Irony with BMW is that they sacked Bangle and finally admitted that design 'outing' was a mistake, BUT they stuck with his design direction.

I was not aware that BMW sacked Chris Bangle. Last I heard he was very much with the organisation.

He does not design the cars directly but oversees the design function overall for the group. Remember, he did the lovely Fiat Coupe

Yeah, in fact I saw a few videos of him explaining all about the new GINA "cloth body" car.

My mistake probably, but I can clearly recall reading a news item a couple of years ago in this vein.

Strange. Perhaps they re-purposed their association. But there was negative feedback from BMW fans and stakeholders at that time and they did go public with their response.

Why does this thread title have E61 ? The E61 is a station wagon version.
I doubt anyone has or will ever by an M5 station wagon in India !

You may never know. Although the chances of anyone buying the M5 Touring is very rare, we cannot rule out the possibility.

The M5 T does look good with its flared rear wheel arches which are missing on the M5 sedan.
